I survived one Werewolf week but it seems I am now on to an entire werewolf month.
I think I should wait until I'm "in a better place" to date but the truth is I may be thinner then and have a job but I'm always going to be in the same mental state, so why wait? I guess because then I would get more "quality" matches but do I really need to abstain until then?

Talk to me Helen.
What do you really want to do?
Do you even really want to date right now?

Talk to me Helen. What do you really want to do? Do you even really want to date right now? Girls just wanna have fun? It's summer, I want to have a reason to shave my legs (etc) and dress up and go out. I want the excitement of a first kiss. I want to flirt and laugh. I want to see what the singles dating scene is like. .
The problem: when I'm alone I can have the illusion that I will meet a great guy someday and that I'm worth it. If I'm seeing someone, I'm likely to take the way he treats me as a referendum of my worth as a human. I've always been that way, with a boyfriend I feel like an invincable sexy person and without one I feel like a hideous troll. The good news is I do know I'd rather be alone than treated poorly and will not stay for mistreatment even if it does hurt my feelings. And summer is when I'm feeling my best and likely not to end up sleeping for a whole week to get over a breakup.

@helentishappy, I know someone who recently married a person they met on Tinder. Not exactly the mission of the site, but apparently it can happen too.

Hmm, so far only encouragement. Men are always in favor it seems (at least non-refusers).

@helentishappy, use it an opportunity to practice saying "no", and start building your filter criteria / honing your radar.

We are all in favour of somebody actually getting laid so there may be some bias here! You know you are going to have to step out at some point. I have no idea who lives on Tinder so I don't have much to offer on whether it is a good fit, but I guess it would be good for you to know what you want and what you don't want and think about where you are most likely to find it. And if you are aware that your mind tends to bend a little and not see straight when you start dating, then what can you do to keep yourself on track? Journalling would probably help, as would finding a 'wing man'. Do you know someone in a similar situation, either here or irl, who you could check in with once or twice a week and help each other navigate?

unmatched I have no idea who is on Tinder, but it can't be worse than a certain "married dating" site was in my outsourcing days. It appeals because there is no 1000 question-long profile which I don't really want everyone and their dog to read, just some pictures and <500 optional words. That's all I need to know before I'm willing to meet someone and see if we have chemistry and connection. And you have to match to send messages, that's nice, it cuts down on the gross drive-by messages from totally inappropriate people. I know it has a reputatuon for being just for hookups but a single friend says it's good for just casual dating too.

oh, and unmatched, to keep myself thinking straight I'll ask you all here and anyone who wants sex will have to Skype with @creelunion and get his permission first. He just seems like he has a good bs detector and as a father of a daughter he must be good at date screening/intimidating right?

It's going well. I posted 4 recent, accurate photos, one a fully clothed full body pic and this text: "I have no kids and 2.5 dogs, what else would you like to know?" [Because I want to attract fellow dog-lovers and anyone who views no kids as either neutral or a plus, I figure it sets me apart from alot of women my age.]
I liked anyone who had attractive photos and no deal-breakers in their written section. I find keeping an open mind is best, I don't want to miss a great person because I was too picky. 5 matches so far since 11 pm, one booty call (no, I am not driving to hangout in the dead of night, Mr. Potential Serial Killer.).
