Beautiful old building. Stunning actually. But for many of us church is not the building( especially those of us who have never belonged to a church like this) It's the people. Biblically speaking the church IS the people. When I'm on holiday I might visit beautiful churches. For me they are a tourist experience. Beautiful to look at, but they hold nothing for me on a personal level.

My dear old Dad rests here x

eternaloptimismI look at that in wonder - It is in all likelihood older than our country. I'm sure there are graves there that are. (Ironically, we have graves near me that are older than our country as well)

My home town dates back to the year 600AD. Some really old crumbling, sunken graves in the local church yard. The original tiny church is a shell.

Instead she discovered a name dating back to the "lost Colony" long before Columbus.

Beautiful to look at, but they hold nothing for me on a personal level. I am quite surprised by that. I am not a Christian, but I do meditate regularly and now and again I will go sit in a church. The energy in those places, particularly old ones where you can feel the history and where people have been praying regularly for a long time, can be amazingly strong. I would have expected the experience of praying in a church to be quite different (easier/more connected?) from praying at home.

Walking. Anywhere really. The relevance of a building, for myself and many others is immaterial.
