Very eloquent and truthful. Thanks for sharing. Definitely felt your heart in that one. I agree. Sorry if I have come across as smug, sometimes people don't know what to do/say when others are hurting. I remember when my dad died we just all agreed it sucked. I hated all the cards I got from everyone, I found them stupid. I hated the well-wishes, the "remember him and smile" BS. You have great advise in that thread.

I read your, "why are we doing this," post. I thought it was insightful to realize you had been doing things because you thought they would lead to a certain result, not because you wanted to do those things. It's good that since you don't want to learn, don't want to be spiritual, don't want to be on a self-help kick to stop doing those things.
Be your authentic self, which is what it seems you are being now. Presumably you are now happier doing exactly what you want.
I've been on self help, spirituality, classes journrys only because they were my idea then of fun. I'm now taking art classes just for fun even though I am not good at art. I've given up for the time being acting because it started boring me and I felt stale.
Figure out what makes you happy then do those things without expecting any additional reward.. surely more than romantic relationships make you happy.

Actually, northstarmom, what seems to make me happiest recently is looking at Art Nouveau and steampunk art online. I've rediscovered my Pinterest account. The world IRL has been so violent and ugly (at worst) and blah (at best), that I find the best escape is looking at artwork.

I just updated. epinexile.wordpress.com Loved it. Can I just add, August is a SUPER BAD ENERGY month for me, too. Always has been, always will be, apparently. Only in recent years have I finally seen the connection/pattern. Not sure why it's like that for me, just is. I feel blah, I feel lethargic, I feel melancholy. Then the coolness of Autumn starts showing up and BAM!!! Energizer bunny! I think I am a fall/winter person, but yet I definitely do need the sun on a regular basis no matter the season (outdoors, fresh air). Anyway, who cares, right? Lol But I hear you on the spiritual stuff. I have done a lot of that in my life, too. I did a gratitude journal for one full year (I was still married to my ex at the time) and I swear it was part of what lifted my depression, cleared my head and got me living again. Mindfulness, living in the now, is also huge for me. Story telling never does us any good (continuing on with trulymadlydeeply's link to Brene Brown). When we spiritual seek to "fix ourselves" it becomes like anything else us humans take to extreme -- weight loss, personal development, etc. UGH. I just wanna be me and be okay with that. Yeah. That feels like enlightenment. lol (it just came to me, so thanks for getting my own thoughts rolling on this subject). Ying, yang --- sometimes we work on ourselves, sometimes we accept ourselves as is. Do what you do in the moment. It's all good.

I actually remember reading yours too a long time ago before I ended up here. That was back when I first started the faint rumblings of waking up to the fact that something was wrong in our marriage.

Damn worth the read. Thanks!!! "Denial" aint just a river in Egypt. Self deception includes sugar coating or avoiding "dealing with" Bad, Evil, Sucking things and the Churchill quote is sublime and I shall keep in my back pocket. "If you're going through hell, keep going."
