While I am a big fan of the idea of staying fit if I may, , I want to say that women with a few extra pounds are very attractive. Call it a fetish or just healthy desire I particularly find post partum pounds attractive. Mummy's tummy...yummy;) I agree! Some meat on the bone makes a grown man groan!

Okay so this thread got me motivated. I worked out just now. I do the Beachbody 21 Day Fix workouts with Autumn Calabrese. I've tried many dvd workouts only to quit. I really enjoy her workouts. I'll just try to cut back on my portions and limit the snacks to healthier options. Easier said than done, but I gained about 10lbs back over the winter and I'm unhappy about that. I'm also logging my workouts, etc. in a fitness planner. shamwow We can only do this for ourselves! Oh, and congrats to you on the weight loss!! You look great in your profile pic!! Keep it up! GG I love beach body.

Call it a fetish or just healthy desire I particularly find post partum pounds attractive. Mummy's tummy...yummy;) That's interesting, because I personally think my postpartum tummy is gross and don't find them in general attractive. I know it's one of those mom shaming things "tiger stripes" or whatever, but boy oh boy they have forced me to convert to a one price suit for life. (I plan to surgically get rid of them when I'm sure I'm fine having kids) It's just loose and there is no amount of exercise that helps, and in fact I made my tummy worse by over exercising after baby was born. Bleh stupid oh yes, an attractive new mother at her bst to me is one with that soft bit of fat just under the navel. It is also wonderful to see her lying on her back and legs together allowing one to admire the way the waist curves out to those generous delicious post pregnancy hips. I know tastes vary among men but that is what gets me going, not to mention soft post partum inner thighs.....sigh!

I readily point to my midriff and say: "there it is: sixty-five pounds of unhappiness". That's about what I figure I've put on in the ~seven years of sexlessness. Emotional and stress eating: bad for me in so many ways...
I've been walking more due to my health insurance costs are now tied to "points" I get via my FitBit and other health-related activities. So that is a step in the right direction.
I'm a pretty serious carb-aholic. The best thing for me to jump start weight loss (and address my less than ideal HbA1c levels) would be get off carbohydrates all together.
OK. There. I've said it out loud. That counts and a first step, right?

...and here I am thinking I am fat and need to be a super model to date. LOL
It's good to know men appreciate real women.
I love womanhood, it is what drew me to midwifery years ago. A mother is a beautiful creature.

Dan, yes, low carb improves a1c's, but also adding in the good pushes out the bad. Have you tried paleo? I now nonflour carbs work much better in my boys. My boys do not make insulin, they have a dead pancreas. Oh, and I love my fitbit.

Now I feel a bit feeble, but all I have done is walk a bit further than usual and eat one or two less biscuits.....
However it is heartening to see some men don't mind a bit of extra meat....
As for me, I don't mind how heavy or unfit a bloke is, it's how he treats me that counts! My h is a very fit gym obsessive (NOTHING gets in the way of him and the gym) but look where that has got me. In fact, it is something I would not want a future partner to be into as much - my h has a great workout body, but is not alive inside, so that's what would matter more to me - showing genuine heartfelt passion.....

It is bit more than "not minding a bit of extra meat". Some of us including myself have a preference for a few extra pounds

Little by little guys. I have put weight on, and it makes me feel even more trapped- who is going to want me now! And comfort eating, don't get me started on that... Ok, so let's try and encourage each other.... Today, I am going to cut down on the food a little, and walk a little further. Every time I go upstairs, I am going to try to go a bit faster.. Rome wasn't built in a day, cc. Try one thing at a time.... Little by little is the key. Back in 2009 our SM was just beginning it's true "suck-ass" phase. I had put on bunch of weight as we had kids. Combined with a slowing metabolism (going from 20's to 30s really sucks on that), a REALLY shitty diet, and no time for exercise, I looked somewhat like a beached whale. And I felt like one too...gasping for air even climbing stairs. For me, the moment of truth came on a motorcycle trip to Florida. Outside Fort Walton Beach, FL, we rode into a nasty storm. My buddy and I pulled off and put on our rain gear. The button on my jeans was already unbuttoned, and the zipper was also open to hold my gut. My jeans were so tight that I couldn't bend a leg to get them into the rain pants. And these were my "fat" jeans. So I had to lie down on my back in the mud to put on my freaking pants. That was my "ah ha" moment. Why would my wife want to be with such a whale? I mean, when we got married, I was fit, lean, and mean. All I have to do is get back there. So after we got home, I lost 74 pounds to get back to 199 (I'm 6-2 by the way). In my case, it was mostly done in the kitchen, not the gym. I didn't count calories, but did change the macro-nutritional distribution of my food. Basically, it was a modified paleo diet. For me, it was the most effective diet I've ever done, and it KEPT the weight off for years. I also did get some exercise in, but it's almost impossible to work off a bad diet. So, after getting back down to the weight I was when I got married over a decade earlier, my SM issues were solved. LOL. I was actually in better shape than I was when we got married, but there is a lot more to a SM than your appearance. As I mentioned, I kept the weight off for 2-3 years until I got injured (broke a hand and tore my rotator cuff). I also started drinking a lot more as my depression phase truly kicked in. That was probably 2012-2015 ish. At that point, the weight started coming back on and I got back up to 252. Last April, my uncle died. When I say died, he didn't "pass away". He had abused his body in every way imaginable (food, drink, drugs), and was over 400 pounds at 5 foot 6. My uncle was always awesome to me and we had lots of fun, but as a role model, he was more in the "what not to do" category. So last April, I vowed to lose 52 pounds in 52 weeks. But I decided to do it for ME rather than HER. I believe that this will make all the difference in keeping it off this time. I was down 45 pounds the other day and have 7 more to go. I might not get there since I'm trying to put a little muscle on my frame, but if I don't, so what. It's an arbitrary number. The key is that I feel damn good physically and emotionally and it is for ME. Now, for me, a modified Paleo diet did the trick. For other people, it will be something different. The key here is to get a copy of the "owner's manual" for your body. The only way to get that is to experiment. Some things will work, some won't. Ditch the stuff that doesn't work, and keep the stuff that does. If any one has any questions on my diet, just PM me. It's not inspired, but it is effective as hell.
