The bolded parts seem to apply to my life. Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell Blue sky from pain Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found The same old fearsWish you were here I had my Pink Floyd stage. I avoid them these days. Some of it is so downer.... But music speaks to us all differently... đ

When most groups were popular or the latest craze, I sort of knew what was going on but not really. I have time to watch interviews done when groups were in vogue. I now look for videos about what some of the songs meant to the writer and the hidden or internal message that inspired the songs. Knowing the reason and back ground of the songs sheds a meaningfull light on several songs. Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" is about Freddy Mercury coming out to his parents. ABBA "The Winner Takes It All" is about the dual divorces of the members.
Pink Floyd
We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found The same old fears Is about how I feel about my life and marriage, same problems several years later and still no decisions. Lots of wishes but not enough actions to change things.

@solodrive, I forgot the group that recorded that song. Thanks for sharing it.
I have a hearing loss and tinnitus (loud crickets or frogs making sounds), and do not understand some words if there are outside distractions (live recordings) so I found a version that deals with my shortfalls. I typically listen to songs that have posted lyrics.
The Marmalade â Reflections Of My Life (lyrics) 1969/70.

I heard this in the grocery store today and it immediately reminded me of our SMs.
"You made me promises, promises (but I didn't know you wouldn't keep!)

Was never a huge Jackson Browne fan until these acoustic albums.

This song has been going though my head today.
Truly a song about the insanity a SM is.

Read/listen to Napoleon invading Russia and learn what happened, then listen to Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture. It might get your mind off your SM, for a little while.
How did Napoleon lose in Russia? | Animated History
Tchaikovsky : Overture 1812 (Full, Choral)

Trigger warning - country music ahead.
Heard this today and actually listened to the lyrics. They could have been lifted from here.
