I don't know what type of music Shamwow likes but I thought of him and Ball of Confusion when I played this song. I do not always understand the lyrics so when I play songs on Youtube I look for the songs with readable lyrics. Sometimes the music is much louder than the vocalist's, so lyrics help me understand what is actually said. I like the song but wish the second go-round would have had different words and not a repeat of the first go-round. It could have had more impact and meanings.
I am not one to believe in the "one" or anything magical but a couple of couples on this forum seem to have had amazing turn arounds in "opposite Land."

Too many serious songs, we need something lighter.

New girl here with a couple questions. Are there rules to the Of The Day threads where only one person can post per day? Question 2 is, who needs some Richard Cheese?

Trigger Warning: This contains bluegrass music.
I heard this today and the refrain reminded me of many of us here. We frequently talk of getting out, of having enough but yet months/years later we are still stuck. This song was written to poke fun at the writer's buddy who could not get up the gumption to ask a pretty woman to dance. The refrain is 'Had enough steam to blow the whistle but not enough to pull the train."

Heard this today for the first time in a very long time. A very upbeat song from 1971 when I was in Jr. High School, during the hot summer, sitting by the pool.
It's actually an appropriate song for our group and I want to state that this song can apply equally to male refusers just by switching the word "she" to "he"!
Now it's stuck in my head for awhile, but it is a upbeat tune, so that's ok. Perfect for me while I'm cleaning out drawers in preparation for my exit, whenever that will happen.

The bolded parts seem to apply to my life.
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell Blue sky from pain Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found The same old fears Wish you were here
