I will never understand why sick people don't want to get well.
For my own ex: Does he *want* to be depressed and either in physical pain or addicted to Rx painkillers? Even without me in the picture, you would think he would want to feel as good as possible.
If having health issues was his way to keep me around without the sex, it didn't work.
Maybe that works on some people better than it works on me. I am the last person you want if you are sick. I don't stay home and focus all my attention on the sick person. I get out as much as possible. Florence Nightingale, I'm not. Maybe my ex thought making me feel guilty and selfish would turn me into Florence Nightingale. It didn't. And I will say this: if I hadn't actually had The Talk(TM) with him - if I had stayed tied to him - I would have outsourced.
I am not a good martyr.
But, like I said: you would think he would want to feel better, just for his own sake - with or without me. It's been about 6 months, and as far as I know, he still has not made a serious effort to regain his health. So unless he's doing something he hasn't told me about - he's choosing to stay the way he is.
