That's definitely true. And apparently on iPhone there is a way to retrieve even deleted text messages. Talk about getting caught Retrieving deleted texts isn't an easy thing to do. I had deleted some texts from a friend in anger and wanted to retrieve them. I followed all the instructions and even downloaded an app but I couldn't get more than a garbled mess. I know that there are more sophisticated programs out there but they are expensive. Besides, it would be silly to use the phone texting because the phone number is listed on the billing.

Other dangers: on iphone: leaving "location services" on and letting Facebook have access (it will add location to your posts) accidentally sending a text to the wrong person (this has only happened to me once when I sent a message meant for my sister to my Stbx after we separated.) I've done that and have received weird messages. So far no damage.

Just because he doesn't want her doesn't mean that doesn't want to "control" her. God! that is so true! Especially if the refuser considers their spouse to be their property. "I don't want you, but no one else can have you. You are mine to use or not use as I see fit."

If you have your phone text alerts set to a drop down notification and you touch it to reply, it doesn't always take you to that text. It will sometimes take you to the text app you have open. If you don't watch this, you will type a reply to the wrong person. Best advice is to not have any drop down notifications for any texts or apps.

You are spot on! It's really playing with fire in this day and time with technology. The best advice I have read and I'm sure it was on EP.... If you decide to have an affair make sure it's worth losing your current marriage and all that comes with.... If you get caught. So ask yourself. If I get caught..... Is it worth the risk? If you are considering outsourcing, how good is the marriage? I guess you could go total Luddite on all matters related to the outsourcing. Or get a second phone, if you had the money.

I'll bet the "Bat Phone" gets found way more than the deleted encrypted text.

I had this today. Been deleting any incriminating messages from my iPhone... But they were still on my iPad! Glad I noticed ha ha.
Also know a colleague who got divorced due to shagging someone on holiday... Took pics during the act and they popped up on his Mac at home. The wife was not impressed!
Also I've noticed on the iPhone when you have left an app open eg Facebook messenger, even if you have deleted incriminating messages, when you scroll through your open apps the deleted message shows. It disappears again when you open it , but there are some things you can't unsee!
BEWARE!! x

Oh piffle! You don't need "technology" to get caught! Let me tell you the tale of my cousin. He was having an affair with a woman who lived up the street from him. He would drive to a certain destination and then meet his AP. He would then climb into the trunk of her car and she would drive to her house, pull into the garage and let him out of the trunk. So he would arrive there sight unseen. This scheme worked for a while. One day his dog got loose after he had left his house. So his then wife went out canvasing the neighborhood looking for the dog. She was going door to door, ringing door bells and asking if anyone had seen the dog. So, she gets to my cousin's AP's house and who answers the door wearing just a towel? You guessed it! Yes divorce happened. Yes, the AP soon had another affair with someone else. Can't make this stuff up.

Toll road history and if you are out of funds and receive a notice in the mail with a picture of your vehicle on a highway you rarely travel at a time you are supposed to be at work. One time ex opened up a letter and my heart skipped a few beats. Lucky for me all he did was open the mail barely look at it and tell me to handle it. I immediately knew the evidence in his hand. I played it cool and took care of it. I studied digital forensics so I'm adept at covering my tracks. My one "oh shit" moment was when I realized I had gone through a toll plaza with my I-Pass, I just about had a stroke and immediately started thinking of alibis surrounding my location. But it never once came up.

When I got home from, uh, "work" my dog was sniffing my clothes, which has been strewn about my AP's bedroom floor.

But if they could: "Andie, you've been around another dog. What's up with that? And you really should shower. Bill's not going to take lightly to your being filled with an Irish accountant's semen from Skokie." "Laddie, how bout I give you a rare prime rib and we call it even?"

So if you have multiple devices this is all magnified.

Off topic slightly, but relevant, it has always been the case that if one is considering outsourcing, then like it or not one is considering divorce with the same degree of gravitas. If one gets caught, it is highly probable that the outcome will be divorce. - Ever has it been so. And, in these modern times the chances of leaving a highly visible evidentiary trail is a fact (as commenters have instanced in this thread) So ones chances of getting caught is higher than ever, and getting higher as new technologies emerge. - That's why it is smart to assume a couple of things before one starts down the outsourcing road. #1 - that you WILL get caught #2 - that a divorce is highly likely to ensue from that #3 - that you need appropriate legal advice, exit plan etc in place to mitigate the damage outsourcing is highly likely to cause - With those 3 things attended to, you can soberly consider whether the potential explosive end to your present primary relationship is worth running the risk. And, you can make a fully informed choice about whether you are going to pursue the outsourcing option or not. - - Editorial It makes far more sense (to me) to get the divorce done with - THEN go out chasing another root. This takes the cheating / outsourcing aspect out of the equation completely. If you are in an ILIASM shithole, you do NOT need additional complications loaded on top. The situation you have to sort out is complex enough already.

I do have Facebook messenger on both. The person I chat with on Facebook (EP friends for over two years) is male, but not someone I feel the need to hide. He is my diversion (unknown to him). If hub discovers him, no big deal. Nothing inappropriate has ever been discussed.
