Perhaps I'm remiss in mentioning... The ladies I messaged at OKcupid were those with high compatibility scores and profiles I found interesting. I found it a bonus if they weren't smoking hot. I've done high maintenance before. Hard pass. Kathy was 60-100 pounds overweight. (I really don't bother guessing anymore.) I'm curious if diode and worksforme2 get so many bots/scammers because those are the profiles with the phony pictures of hotties? Maybe the scammers don't figure a heavier gal can easily con hundreds or thousands of dollars out of a drooling rube? Keep in mind that both of us were contacted by the scammers, not us reaching out to them. I think most lkely the scammers operate like many of the male members at dating sites. They simply mass message everyone over a certain age or who seem to fit a group the scammer has targeted. It's true in my case the scammers used photoes of attractive women. I suppose it works the same way when women are scammed. I am guessing photoes of models are used as the prop. Our time seems to be the worst site for this. I Googled complaints about Our Time. Scammers were the chief complaint listed for that site, followed by lack of response from the sites support contact or problem resolution system. Crime seems to be increasing exponentially the last couple years. Just as testing scores for college admission have fallen dramatically. I'd like to put it off on progressive polices in mostly Democret governed states and woke teachings of entitlement in the government school system. But that is a post for another day.

Good to know. I wonder why I didn't get splattered with bot honey.
As for the rest, we cannot get into that line of conversation again. Folks log in here upset about their marriage. Adding getting upset about politics is going to be counterproductive for some members. There are hundreds of places on the web to debate. There's one ILIASM

Adding getting upset about politics is going to be counterproductive for some members. There are hundreds of places on the web to debate. There's one ILIASM In agreement with worksforme2, whereas sincere prospects would only rarely contact me, the scammers flocked. Also, whereas very few sincere prospects bothered to respond to my messages, the scammers were all too eager in their pursuit of a target. So, the scammers were plentiful both in raw number and even more so relative to the responsive sincere prospects. My hunch is that it was the ease of setting up profiles that facilitated the aggregation of the scammers.

I've said before that I had configured my profile to require people to be married in order to see my profile. Perhaps scammers do not choose to masquerade as married women and they never even saw me?
I guess they figure that no guy is going to send money to a married woman? They figure guys would expect the husband to handle upkeep?

One other interesting facet of this deja vu theme has also presented itself again. I get an average of 2-3 messages from individuals (women?) perweek who are far away from me. They just say "Hi"or they press the "like" button. Some are quite attractive and some are not, and then generally they disappear. One very short message and then gone. If they are attractive I send a "like" back. If not, I thank them for reaching out to me and wish for them a great day.

Not sure what sites you frequent...Were I to have filtered on that set of attributes, I would only have received contacts from scammers who had pretended to have been married women.

I tried Tinder, Bumble, OKcupid and one other that I forget. Plenty of Fish rejects honest married people. Married liars, I assume, are the only kind you'll find there. OKcupid was the only one to offer that filter. No one messaged me first. They get hundreds of messages daily, I figure. Why would they initiate? Maybe try it? Not sure if this filter is still available five years later.
