"A bear trap" is a good description of my predicament. Illinois in 2018 allowed my ex to take 30% of my gross income for the rest of my life, plus child support until my youngest "graduates" home school high school. They've changed their calculations at least twice since then. I can live modesty and comfortably on what I have left.

The guy on the marriage talk forum you mentioned... if he were smart, he’d pack up the house and move to Texas to support her. And then re-file the divorce there, where they don’t have alimony. , just FYI, I gave this a legit look and learned that both spouses have to live in Texas in order to file there, but I’m told it’s only for 90 days. I’d thought for sure it’d require a year. |

Getting back to the original topic, I'm not sure there is a real division of the sexes. Once we've been trapped in one bad relationship, it feels good to have a level of autonomy.
One of my sisters is divorced, and has been dating the same man for nearly five years. He spends more nights than not at her place, but maintains his own home.
I am in a similar situation. I have my own modest home, and like having my own place. I love spending time with my girlfriend, but the idea of cohabitation with anyone just isn't an idea I will entertain.

I would like to live with another couple and the man can't be sexless! Haha
I would share my home or go to theirs if it had some amenities I prefer.
Another couple have agreed to take in my H if I die before him.

(wink) There is a line in the movie "Boys in the Hood" and it reads "in-house pussy"(=sex is easy access) is this something similar?

Jerri, I think in terms of accessibility. A hot potential date miles and miles away doesn't do much for me. While a plain Jane (or reverse the genders) a couple miles away, I would choose the plane Jane. Who knows how it would turn out.
OTH, my love life is similar to my Ferrari, I don't have either, but I am doing well, considering how life seems to go on at a reasonable pace.
