ironhamster has heard ivermectin, a parasite medicine, was anti-viral, so I checked it. Thought I'd post my minor search result and two others. While ivermectin appears to have stopped actual death, it wasn't helpful for preventing oxygen or ventilator needs. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.05.21249310v1.fullIt did prevent death by 7%, but that might be a fluke. There were only 112 patients. Remdesivir and colchicine (the second one an very old, cheap drug) were both effective in case of hospitalization. www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/90887Doctors are using Vitamin D and B12 to attenuate the immune response to COVID that produces the shortness of breath issues. A Singapore medical study showed giving it to people already being hospitalized reduced the need for supplemental oxygen and entirely eliminated ventilator requirements. That same study also added Magnesium. Mg doesn't seem to be widely deployed. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.06.01.20112334v2

Glad you brought this up. I generally stand by the accuracy of the MSM, but I hold their sensationalism and ratings avarice in contempt. The Astra Zeneca vaccine is not ineffective against South African COVID. No one who got S.A.-COVID was hospitalized. Sick as dogs, yeah, but no one on oxygen or ventilator. If I hadn't caught COVID already and had a shot at the A-Z vaccine. I'd grab it. Not impossible strains will come up that evade Moderna and Pfizer too. Especially if we limp towards the finish line like we are.

Mirrororchid, the way I read the article was "Just one injection" of the AZ vaccine reduced the severity of the Covid symptoms by about 2/3rds.
I also read an article about inoculating more people with the first jab/shot only so as to protect people from bring on a ventilator or dying and going past the 30 days for the second injection of the various Covid vaccines.
The idea was (1 shot/jab) to get more people protected from the worst effects (ventilator or death) of Covid.
SO 1 jab/shot =64% effective 2 jabs/shots = 94-95%effective
I also read if a person had Covid they are advised to get the vaccine in about 6 months.

Jerri or DryCreek, can you put some local warm air in a quart mason jar and send it my way? I will return the jar to you with some -25F/-32C air in return. OK, the real problems are the Covid and the cold. I was counting on it being warmer on Monday but now the forecast indicates maybe it will above 0F/-18C on Monday and above freezing in the afternoon on Thursday.
Just to be scientifically correct, there is no such thing/item as cold. Cold officially is just the lack of heat. Heat can be removed from items and heat can be added.
UPDATE: I just watched the weather forecast for the south. You guys are going to have COLD weather too so skip the idea of sending me a quart of warm air.

Accidently was able to get my 1st covid19 vaccination today. My daughter in law called to say a friend had posted on Facebook of a vaccination site and that there were few people there. It was about a 1/2 hr. away so I took a chance. I drove up and right through the 4-5 stops to answer questions, fill out insurance paperwork and get info for 2nd shot. So another successful mission. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
EDIT: And I just want to add this is a piss poor way to go about addressing the current pandemic. Getting a vaccination should not be a matter of lucking into the information needed to find the vaccination site. My opinion is that this is another example of why politicians and governments are not trusted. NC has a democrat for a governor so it is his call on how the state goes about the inoculation effort. He's not a bad guy, just not a good governor. If a Republican was in office he would be effissorated on a daily basis by the liberal press in this state.

If you really want some warm air i have plenty in my home. Every room is climatized to 68 degrees as per my instructions to the thermostat. It you want it warmer I can put it in the microwave for about a minute and it will be in the 90's.

The intelligent people in the state decided that Covid cases were decreasing so now people do not have to wear a mask but suggested wearing a mask would be the wise thing to do. This "mask optional" sounds like a fools move.
It was -25f/-32C last night. One more night to go at -25f/-32C and then it warms up to -6F/-21C tomorrow. Inside it is toasty warm. Thankfully I have a treadmill inside and I can watch TV while I walk.

Jerri kid who got struck by lightning in (Argentina?)One lucky 12 yr old. Why it is colder than usual in the US.
I went to Walmart and about 40% of the people were not wearing a mask. My opinion is they are taking too large a risk. To me, the governor saying a mask is optional was stupid, especially with the more transmissible variants on the rise.
