There was a lovely meme of a doctor with a chart of coronovirus deaths. The early part of the graph was labelled "tragedy", the latter part was labelled 'stupidity". We all know what we are supposed to do, what reduces risk and what helps. But so help me, this morning two middle aged guys shoved past me on a perfectly wide pavement. I was against the wall with nowhere to go. And teens! I get it that they are symptom free, but they carry the virus as they ignore every bit of advice out there.

Did my first pub tonight! A lovely country pub in the middle of nowhere with hardly any customers. We did the English thing of waving across the room. It felt safe and was most pleasurable

Lessingham, there has been a BIG increase in Covid-19 cases in my county. We used to have 3 to 5 new cases per day. In the last 3 days there have been 137 new cases of Covid-19 and one retirement/care home has had 7 deaths in the past week. Those people were in their 80's and 90's. I figured the death rate for the whole state and it is 1.7% of the people that get Covid-19 so I suppose the death rate for all citizens is much lower.
I am happy to hear you can go to the pub. Me, I am staying home more now than last month. Where I live it takes a while for things to come to our area but it eventually gets here, some times 6 months later than the rest of the country. Covid-19 is here with a vengeance, for our relative population size.

It was well researched, no crowded pub, no pub of poor reputation and well out of the way. Plus it is in the village the Middletons live in, Prince William's in laws, so one expects high standards. I will not go to the pub on an evening ehen the drinks are flowing. I am not travelling yet, no vacations or anything. I try hard to stay safe and wish nothing but safe health to you all.

I will be in the queue for the vaccine. If folk want to die of ignorance, that is their call Darwin awards. Natural selection at work ....

Jesus f*ing Christ, the "stable genius" strikes again (copied from The Guardian, a highly respectable UK newspaper):
>Donald Trump once again delivered a coronavirus briefing alone, without his leading public health officers. The president complained that top infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci had a higher approval rating, and >defended his promotion of a disinformation video. >Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr both promoted a video featuring misinformation about the coronavirus. Twitter suspended rump Jr’s account for spreading false claims after he shared the video of a doctor falsely >claiming that the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is a “cure” for coronavirus.
"approval rating"?!? Really? Seriously? Narcissism gone rampant. It's painfully obvious you cant trust that moron to even look after a children's birthday party, never mind run a country under a pandemic. {shakes head} Best of luck, America!

The complete lack of information on twitter and you tube will kill us all. There are doctors for this, doctors agsinst it. New agers for that, new agers against it. Politicians saying one tbing and politicians ripping into them. Moron dads saying how they know no one eith the virus so screw the restrictions. Stupid women shopping by picking up every bit of fruit with bare hands and so on. Me? I look back to the old days. Coughs and sneezes spread diseases, wash your hands, no spitting, butchers refusing to handle money, wearing gloves and so on.

I genuinely hope that you do not source your news and information from sites such as twitter and facebook. Such sites and these 2 in particularly in the US are widely considered as being as much about "fake news" as as about actual verifiable relevant news stories and information. No serious person would take anything they read on these sites as factual before researching the article or story to see what biases or prejudices the writer brings to the posting.

Red the new York times. Better yet, get on medine and read scholarly journals and original research first hand, for free!
I am a former working journalist. That crap on Twitter, Facebook and you tube is not journalism. It's propaganda churned out by those with vested interests.

How about MEDLINE?
Medine seems to be a French rapper.

I also am a former working journalist. I also have a doctorate. I use Medline and reputable news sources like The NY Times and Washington Post.

Thanks for catching my typo Handy. I meant Medline indeed. northstarmom I already subscribe to the Times on line so that's enough for me. If only Wapo didn't have its pay wall locked down tighter than a drum! But Jeff and Mckenzie Bezos' divorce isn't going to pay for itself, now, is it? 😏🙄

I can only recommend theguardian.com and the news.bbc.co.uk as reputable news sources. Personally I also read stuff.co.nz, but they're probably not of interest to people outside of NZ.
I've tried some US sources, but, believe it or not, they are too provincial for my liking.

Oh, petrushka. You needn't read or worry about anything problematic, really. NZ is a privileged, island paradisical bubble of wokeness and universal healthcare with almost no COVID! It's run by liberals who are too affluent and educated to really even need much help. 😉😁 Your job is to keep New Zealand fabulous. That way, maybe one day the rest of us schmucks can perhaps visit, to remember the world as it used to be, before it all went bad. Though honestly it was bad before covid too. But not quite AS bad... 😬🤔🤦♀️😱
