Devout Christians may get all over my case for this. But I think Shmi should do the same thing. Just. Admit. It.

Good answer, now the questions? Why did R2D2 have part of the map to find Luke Skywalker? Where is C3PO? Perhaps already hanging out with Luke? Will Kylo Ren be swayed back from the dark side? What is up with Finn, what role will he play in the future? Your thoughts, I was waiting for a punchline then... these are real questions man! Errrr. 😬 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk EO, yes, I was teasing you about not being a Star Wars fan, by positing some silly questions about the story. I did not expect an answer back from you, or from anyone for that matter. But if we ever get the commune idea going again, I may have to put an area where Sci-Fi fans can go and enjoy themselves without ridicule!

One reason I like Star Trek better than Star Wars ... it has a more believable timeline and more believable tech.

From an engineer's point of view, the Federation starships make no sense whatsoever and are way too fragile for space flight. My thoughts on Star Trek (though I thought DS9 was one of the best sci Fi series ever on TV):

I asked husband tonight - who do YOU think Darth Vader's father is? H: Well, Shmi said he didn't really have a father. Me: Well, yes, but that's so Virgin Mary of her or any knocked-up teenager. Do you ever THINK about it? H: No. Fan theory seems to suggest Darth Plageus - when he overcame death - his medichlorians transferred. (Shrug) Me: But!!! There's an entire host of options and theories and sub-text about society in ALL of that. H: (sigh) I just never think about it... it's entertainment. Me: 😢 I imagined you asking him this question with tatas akimbo!

cagedtiger, I didn't say Star Trek was completely infallible, just more believable than Star Wars.
The fact that the writers of Star Trek came up with the need for a Heisenburg Compenesator in their teleporter design shows that they at least put some thought into keeping it somewhat scientifically believable.

andie and wewbwb, way to shame those stupid Christians for their silly beliefs I really hope you were being funny. No one's beliefs are silly, and I don't shame. I was simply drawing a parallel between Mary and Shmi.

Sorry y'all. Stop. It's not at all your fault. It is sometimes difficult to convey sarcasm or snark in a post or message.

@andie - I have veiled snark and sarcasm. Just taking responsibility for starting it. I am Agnostic and not against religion just that I don't "feel" it like others do. I wish I had that peace - but I don't have it. Plus - I am extremely into myself and want to give myself full credit!!! LITW - I am sorry. I do think the point remains as in Lucas was raising doubt about Anakin Skyealker's parentage and tying it to Christianity. It's a narrative that exists and makes it fun for Star Wars fans.

andie and wewbwb, way to shame those stupid Christians for their silly beliefs I humbly apologize if someone was upset by humorous post. Accepted ... and a public admission I overreacted. It gave me a flashback to being on EP where there were certain EP members who felt it necessary to flame every christian-positive post with decidedly anti-chritian rhetoric if not outright mocking of our beliefs. (every other religion was ok, just not Christianity) I realize that was not the case here, so I am sorry too.
