It is always helpful to know what your real motivations are for doing (or not doing) things.
If you get that key thing right, the rest of the picture can look quite clear.

So it is well worth putting what you think is your main motivation for doing (or not doing) something is, under the spotlight, and to subject it to your closest possible scrutiny.
-
You may, on reflection, re-confirm that your real motive is indeed what you originally thought.
And maybe, not.

I used to fantasize about just getting in my car, getting on the highway and leaving because I was so unhappy. I don't think like that anymore.

Run off with the kids. fast food, a movie, some shopping, a walk in the park together, go have a kite day, rake leaves for a widow, etc... Start living without him as a burden.
Start proving to him and yourself that life is happier without a controller.

Personnal testimony: Tonight is election night. I don't want to hear any of it! I went and saw the movie "Hacksaw Ridge" 5 days ago. It's very, very, moving, and motivational, (and gory). I have 4 teenage sons. What a great reason to have a guys night out! Who ever is available and wants to go, I am going tonight.
The STBX will not be included.

Now living in Engineer and Scientist Central. And @ggold, there is a lot to be said for Southern Hospitality. Just saying. |
