Does your spouse like you to look a certain way? They want you dress up or down, sexy or dreary. Have a certain image. A few weeks ago I stopped shaving, and daily my wife tells me she doesn't like beards. I actually find it funny more than anything considering our spouses don't find us sexual attractive. Do you ever get "Are you wearing that"? moments. Or wear or groom yourself a certain way just to annoy them. So share how your spouse views your style and any funny stories (we don't always have to be a miserable bunch )

Mine said she found the smell of shampoo in my hair a turn-off. I think I was using Pantene or whatever we had in the house. So we found a man's shampoo that we both liked, and apparently I now smell much better. And... ?

Beards. Oh god oh god oh god. Best sex toy ever. I'll be in my room.
Anyway, no. He doesn't care what I wear, how I look or how I smell. I doll myself up for ME. I think he's oblivious.

She didn't care what I wore as long as I had something on.

My hub has always had a beard. It suits him. Even though I don't mind beards, I'd like to experience the novelty of a cleanly shaved face.
As for my appearance, Hub will ask me "Is that what you're wearing?". If I say yes, he shrugs his shoulder and says "Okay." Being a pleaser, it was a big step for me to not go back into the closet and change into something I know he likes. Another big step for me was cutting my hair. My hair is wavy, but fine and thin. If it's long it is a fuzzy mess. Short, I can have a trendy cut that is flattering. He has never let go of this. He told me that he married a woman with long hair, not a woman with short hair. In my mind I said "I married a man that promised to love me."
What if an AP insisted that the lady/gentleman dress in a style that she/he is not entirely comfortable? What should they do?

On infrequent occasions, Ms enna will ask me to dress up a bit if we are attending something as a couple - like a wedding / funeral - and I am happy to do that. Actually, I'd be happy enough to wear a three piece suit etc to mow the lawns if she wanted. - I do recall a "South African Fancy Dress" party we went to just on 2 years ago a South African couple we know hosted, where one was suppossed to go as something appropriate. I thought long and hard about that outfit, ended up concocting a pair of prosthetic legs out of tinfoil, a couple of toy guns etc and went as "Oscar Pistorious" which received great acclaim as being in very poor taste.(I couldn't persuade enna to go as "Reeva Steenkamp" though).

So did you just leave her home in the bathroom instead ?

OOH that brings up a whole other other issue of the bedroom. I presume there is a lot of flannel PJ's out there. As for AP are we talking clothes we wear to starbucks or up against a wall in hotel bedroom, because I imagine a lover wouldn't appreciate a flannel nightie and crochet slippers?

Good one celt !! But no, she was with me, done up as Winnie Mandella, complete with a handbag stuffed full of Monopoly money.

@thecelt. I definitely don't sleep in flannel. I do like my Ugg slippers though.

My stbx had strong opinions about everything. Including my clothes. He didn't like high heels and anthing sexy. He doesn't like colored underwear. (too unpractical with washing according to him). I dressed simple and boring most of the time and apparently that was fine. I am catching up with that now. He didn't like make-up. I used to wear only eye-liner. I don't like make-up that much myself but I am using a little more now. He didn't want me to use perfume. I have bought some now. He didn't want me to use all kinds of things with strong smells. He didn't like certain colors. He didn't like me wearing jeans. He didn't like my curves. Whenever he saw me naked, I could count on his comments about me having to lose weight.
