At what point did you start using the term STBX?

I started using it in a post I made on EP last September after I told him I was planning to divorce him.

I started using it in a post I made on EP last September after I told him I was planning to divorce him. Same here! After we had the fast food dinner announcement, then the talk with the family. I don't use it many other places though. Most of the time it's either, she, her or her first name. Refuser, and manipulative controller, came before STBX did. Something that is strived for in my Divorce Recovery class is calling your spouse " ex" after the divorce. Ex husband or ex wife, not husband or wife. I find myself telling the kids, your mom, or using her first name a lot more.

I didn't use it until I had the letter written (to inform him of my decision & plans). The lawyer had been retained but hadn't filed yet. A few days later, the paperwork was initiated. 6 months (or 7) later, I was divorced. A few months after that, we finished the sale of our property.

STBX is not a term I used very often, if at all. - I used to use the term - "Financial Partner" while we were still nominally married. Then, I switched over to "ex missus" when we split. - The "soon to be" part of soon to be ex implies that legal action is underway and a finishing date is known. - I think, personally, that the term "STBX" gets thrown around pretty loosely in here at times.

Even once legal proceedings have begun, we've seen enough horror stories of vindictive or leg clinging spouses to know that it still may not be soon.

Different question.... How long....have you been saying STBX? Good point!! I said it four and a half months. Mostly written form on EP. The tough part was remembering to call him my ex and not husband. That took about a month to get used to.

When I started making moves that were specifically geared towards getting out, I started using that term with a few of my close friends. Around ILIASM, I continued to refer to him as ADBX.

ADBX = Asshole Douchebag Ex. When simply 'douchebag' is just too generous. It sounds like Fiery's ex definitely qualifies. Maybe for a few more adjectives too.

As soon as we decided to divorce. I started using it on EP first, then my writing. In the real world he's just X-Asshole.
