I have a heavy foot and a love of all things that go fast. Moving from there west coast back to the east about five years ago, taking the southern route of I-10 through Texas, there's a patch where the daytime speed limit is 80 mph. Top down with Avenged Sevenfold blasting out if the headrest speakers, I got my little S2000 up to about 115 before I ran out of balls.
I won't mention how fast I got my CBR up to, in the interest of avoiding being scolded...

Ok fine. Here's the one I was driving to the last time *I got caught* - 86 in a 70, in Orange County, California in my very carefully tuned and tweaked bright red Honda Prelude. Thankfully i was slowing down, and the cop was nice enough to only cite me for 75. Thank God for being in uniform and getting pulled by a cop who was a punk rock fan: ..... and then Tiger had to get fitted for a neck brace after sustaining a good dose of whiplash from all the moshing

I've only been 100mph once, and it was in a compact Prius! The speedometer was still climbing, it hit about 102 before I backed off and it was hardly gnarly. The aero keeps it solid (although a cross wind might have meant a white knuckle moment) It could easily hit 110. A Prius?! Who would have thought... Lightish weight + aerodynamics... I could see that. I just want to know how long it took to get there.

Wow, colour me impressed. I'm pretty sure you do not have 100mph speed limit roads over there? Haha...I suppose I should have clarified that. I can probably count on one hand the times I have driven 100mph and with one exception, they were all when I was incredibly young and stupid with no sense of the value of life. My first car was a '65 Mustang and it just begged for straight, open road. My speeding adventures were almost all out in the country where the biggest risk wasn't the boys in blue but the random deer that decided to cross the road at the wrong time. I have a good friend who has always said, "don't drive faster than you can afford" so these days I keep it with in 10mph of the limit, but speeding down the road with an awesome song blaring is definitely a rush. ...and we're gonna need to hear more about this '65 Mustang...

It was sweet. Actually a 64 1/2, pony interior, 289 engine, completely refurbished with original parts except for a '66 gas cap. LOVED that car. Unfortunately, so did my dad so any time I pulled up at the house he would "hear a sound" and have to check it out. This would result in my car in pieces and then he would drive it for a week to "make sure it was good to go". He was a car guy. I eventually figured out he was playing me. So easy to get a ticket in Orange Co. When the 405 is wide open, it just begs for speed. I lived in Huntington Beach for awhile.

We have to much in common! My first car was a 68 Ford Mustang 302 Fastback 100% GT Acapulco Blue with a white " c" stripe! I remember taking out on some Carolina back roads getting over 100 mph, It rattled so much like it couldn't handle it! I also had experience with driving 18 wheelers down Black mountain on I-40 in N.C. There are three run off ramps for when your breaks burn out. After you pass that last run off it's pretty much straight down. Easy to reach 100 mph with 40 tons, while letting your breaks cool. Smokey was never around!

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my phone. I worked in Santa Ana and Irvine mostly, but went surfing quite a bit out at Huntington Beach. Your mentioned about surfing too, right? And for me, the most dangerous stretch was the 5 across Camp Pendleton. So easy to speed with so little to see on both sides of the road.

Lots of tobacco, steel, and liquor! 40 to 42,000 lbs, in a 53' dry van,had to keep the max below 40 T, to make it across the scales. 4th gear in a 9 speed up Black mountain. The relaxing runs were hauling plastic bottles for Avon 3000 lbs, like haulin' an empty!
