There has been another thread in here (can't find it at the moment) about asexuals.
That thread put the level of asexuality at similar levels as this article.

On a per capita basis, that other article said -
Per 100,000 of population -
1,000 identify as asexual.
Of those 1,000, 700 are female and 300 are male.

Personally, I think asexuality is as legitimate a preference as homosexuality or heterosexuality or bisexuality.

That said, I do have strong objections to a person, putting on a temporary act to entrap another person for the purpose of outward appearance. "Bearding" in other words.

I can understand that in a sexual society as far as media, internet etc goes that asexuals may feel quite marginalised, but my empathy level drops right off if they engage in "bearding".
That is unconscionable behaviour.
