Oh hell, I think this article is awful. Not because the abusive behaviours that are described are wrongly tagged as abusive behaviours, but the attribution, the attribution is just ... a mare's nest of convoluted projection in itself.
I can see a myriad of people who have suffered any of this abuse listed immediately running off going 'my s.o. is a malignant narcissist' even though nothing could be further from the truth. That's what I have a problem with here. As well, as the article goes on, things get more and more convoluted.
Some of the behaviours described can typically be ascribed to passive aggressive people, some to out of control control freaks, some to sociopathic or psychopathic people. None of these three groups have much in common, psychologically, even though they will all display abusive behaviours.
In my opinion, this article is a horrible example of 'popular science'. Maybe not quite 'at its worst', but ....
