Not every woman will see that reaction as a bad thing. Given society, I have to assume most women prefer hidden fear, anxiety, anger, and self-doubt.
Do we truly want it otherwise? Do we stop telling boys that crying is weak? Do we really? Do we truly want that? I think we want what we have; though we wish we didn't. The demand for exaggerated strength reveals the deep fear of our species.

This short video brings back several painful memories of 'opening up" at church and having the door shut right in my face.
Especially when you open up' to someone so they too can 'open up" with their needs and concerns. You give them your trust by offering the truth that you too have problems and we are all far from perfect. " all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
They then claim you " offended" them! Then the ugly head of " double standards and the almighty $$$" comes into play. The same in relationships.
My guard wall remains very high when and if I go back. the same in dating.
Actions speak louder than words.

Dad Starting Over presented how to be vulnerable to your spouse. podcasts.apple.com/gh/podcast/from-vulnerability-to-ew-what-kind-of-man-are-you/id1185701282?i=1000533637836Queue to 2:22 I find it to be description of a performance men are allowed to put on without risk. It's bravado disguised as humanity and it's enough to satisfy, and too little to scare anyone. I find it sound advice, and dehumanizing. Excellent work capturing the inauthentic existence of the successful man. Meh. Whatever. It's the handbook we're given as kids. It works. I don't know what a universally empathic world would feel like. Would it be good?
