I could tell several stories about this! And here's one of them:
I went dancing for 3 hrs at the studio last night, asked one of the older women for more dancing at the local bar. She said yes and brought another woman/platonic DPO friend of mine along.
The three of us walk in together. The platonic friend is the one asking me to dance with her. like in the video, 100% what's my response? Of course!!! Thank you!!
I recognize and know several people there already ( about 8 other woman who I've danced with before) the two ladies with me know lots of other people! ( the head singer in the band knows me by name and introduces me over the microphone!! ( i'm humbled/embarrassed/ and stoked !! all at the same time!!)
3 songs into the night, and a cute/petite woman, close to my age comes right up to me as I'm exiting the dance floor and asks " will you dance with me please?"
Like in the video- 100% of the time my answer is " YES! Of course! Thank you! Thank you for asking!!"
Thinking to myself-- That takes a lot to come up and ask someone to dance, the fear of rejection, the unknown etc,,,. I certainly go through that all the time!
As we where dancing she tells me " my name is Mona". I tell her my name is _____!" Mona says " I know! They already told me!"..
I then, literally said " Oh my God!"... Thinking... People are telling you about me? You're asking about me? " then I come down to reality..it's just a dance, and it's because I'm single and can dance".
Mona is a really good dancer she followed 90% of my lead! Very light on her feet!
Mona is a snowbird, lives in New York and is visiting. We talked all about dancing and where I'll be tonight, dancing and invited her to join us!
Had she not come up to me , I wouldn't have picked her out, and would have stayed with my steady " wing girl DPO Dance Partner Only friends"
I think at my age ( 60 yrs. old) and in this day and age ( feminism, fear of rejection , huge divorce rates, SM's etc..) woman can, should, and need to do, more of the asking!!
