I joined this site in May of 2016. Not surprisingly I saw a lot ot the EP members I knew. Un-fortunately few of those EP folks posted like they did on that site and very few of them a still active here. I used to post a lot but now I do more commenting in the form of humor. The newer OP's often don't resonate with me as much. I agree with another comment about the lack of information /history of the marriage ans that makes trying to figure out what might be happening more difficult. Covid also might still be playing a role with those in a SM just thinking the loss of intimacy is related to the general actions of avoiding contact and social distancing. I also think a huge number of people are cruising about the site seeking answers, but are unwilling to post their story for whatever reasons. Just look at the ratio of visitors to members every day. It's about 20-40 times as many visitors for every member. I'm not in a SM anymore. I'm mostly in a sexless single state. Women in my age demographic that are interested in intimacy seem to be few and mostly located very far away.

Agreed that is unfortunate. Do you have any thoughts as to why things have dropped off over the past few years? It seems to me like we had a lot of people resolve their sm situations by leaving around 2017-2019. The vast majority of people who get out tend to stop posting about their SM since it is, well, over. For those who stay, they work through their SM in different ways, but since nothing is really changing, there isn't much to write about as h mentioned. I am curious about your thoughts, though. Brother shamwow . I don't think it matters a real lot "why" this group is declining. A lot like an ILIASM situations I think. It just "is what it is". But, my random thoughts as to contributing factors in the decline are - Apart from a bloc of EP people who came over to here after EP imploded, there really wasn't a very big base when this site opened up in March 2016, and after the membership got to about 1,000 it's taken another 5 years to cough and sputter it's way to the present 1,910. Of those 1,910 there are 1,050 who haver NEVER posted a word. So the base of active members was never strong. And without a strong base, and new 'replacement' members not happening, the trajectory of the group started nose diving after the initial refugees from EP came to the site. But I am absolutely sure that this site has been helpful to a significant number of people. so whereas the future doesn't look too great, it has provided a useful service, and as such has been a most worthwhile enterprise. Excellent points, baz. From my purely selfish perspective, this site changed my life. I'm sure ballofconfusion would agree with me.

I'm sure ballofconfusion would agree with me. Honestly better than well. BOC and I are almost full fledged empty nesters and are eagerly planning on all the things we plan on doing once we no longer have kids under our roof. Some of those things are sexual, of course....kitchen counter, living room, or just being able to make noise. Others are non-sexual. For example we decided to head to the beach yesterday on a whim. We are going to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Dallas next weekend. We are planning several trips to scout if we want to move to a different part of the country if given an opportunity. Etc... When we each left in 2017 we had about a year of travelling back and forth where we didn't have kids. Then her ex went deadbeat and we had her daughter on many of those visits so we often did things with her. In 2020 when she got here we had all the kids here back from college due to covid. Now those kids are in school and we only have her son (the one with cancer) who is moving out from our place and getting an apartment with his girlfriend. It will be the first time that we have actually been able to just enjoy "us" in 4 years and the first time that we have been able to do this without travelling... We can't wait!

Fantastic to hear. I'm sure Im not the only here that at times has lived vicariously through you. You have been very generous and transparent with your journey and the related anecdotes. I for one have looked forward to your posts when I frequented the forum more often in the past. Hope you have many more happy adventures in the ensuing years. shamwow... then we can all agree the forum has achieved some good. Glad to hear things are going well. Honestly better than well. I loved that show The Good Place. Wife thought it was dumb though.
