Exactly, that was the point of the video. (both sides, not just the "crazed left wingers) See, the nut picking seems to be a favorite sport of our side. Charlottesville was a large group of loons, but it was painted as a Republican party rally. The Arizona recount denialists have a tendency to represent the party at large even as Republicans election officials disavow them, (and receive death threats from those loons as a thank you) The guys hoarding gold and stocking their shelves with freeze dried food and bullets. Some baskets of basket cases are larger than others, but the numbers overlap a lot and at the end of the day, they aren't the main body. The failure to emphasize this to shore up your base and win your primary alienates moderates form either side who might bend your way and elections get lost as a result. It's been a problem in the west where the assumption that every Democrat wants to ban guns keeps moderates from voting for people who support social security and Medicare. Howard Dean's 50 state strategy took this approach and started winning races in Montana because preservation of public land is a very winning platform there and Democrats are all about public enjoyment of wide open spaces. The gun thing is lousing that up. Montana Dems are assumed to follow the party mantra. I'm pleased that the Democrats are working closely with Senator Manchin of West Virginia. The only way that guy gets into office is by looking like the pain in the arse he is to a progressive agenda and when your margin of error is zero, you need to band a little. The demand of ironclad loyalty was the end of New England Republicans in the Senate. Religious dogma is quite unpopular up there, but flexibility was for losers. The Dems did teh same in the West. Both unforced errors. It does get tedious having to put up with not just the half truths and wording taken out of context both sides spout during political campaigns. This sort of denigration probably only hardens a Trump supporter or even a moderate Republican to swear off ever considering anything from the liberal/progressive side has to say. It isn't just the current crop of political comedians looking for a laugh. Nancy Pelosi speaking at Cambridge, England yesterday referred to Republicans as a "cult". It's fine to use comedic references as long as everyone knows that it's meant as a joke. I do it all the time here and other places. After all I put up with 4 yrs. of Trump/followers bashing. Time to return the favor now that liberals control 2 facets of our federal government. But I am always wary of any group, especially a political party that can't laugh at itself. |

They both are satirical entertainment venues but for opposite sides of the aisle.

Whoa.....mirrororchid, are you perusing the Babylon Bee.? ...The Bee should send me a Christmas present for all the free advertising I do for them. I had to google the headline to find it, but wasn't at all surprised that it came from "The Bee". It was biting and funny. Too bad the story wasn't as dry as the headline. The Bee is a very good example of what conservative humor pieces should look like. They're pretty good. A little too heart on sleeve, this one piece. Too blunt. Sometimes they nail it and all the way through you're 90% sure they're not serious, but the 10% makes you admire the style. The Bee was quite welcome given that Rush Limbaugh was what passed for a conservative humorist. Anyone besides me have a watch at the Chris Wallace/Mayorkas interview this morning. Mayorkas is the quintessential liberal Democrat. Kudos to Wallace for repeatedly asking the same questions 2-3 times forcing Mayorkas to finally give an honest answer. And what did you learn works my man? My thoughts/suspicions were confirmed about how many Haitian illegals are ushered into the US with out any vetting, testing or means of locating them in the future. Once again the Biden administration has lied like hell to the American people about what they are up to.
