As requested, an update. My infection was "moderate", meaning I had to go to the hospital a couple times to get checked out but wasn't admitted. I've still got a decent cough but most of the other symptoms (severe shortness of breath, fever, aches, headaches, night sweats, diarrhea, loss of smell) have abated. ballofconfusion and her daughter did wind up testing positive but had lighter cases. They are also both starting to recover. Her son with cancer has been taking care of us as we've been in in isolation. Fortunately to date, our isolation has kept him covid free. His next round of treatment starts next week so as we heal up we will be available to help him. Boc's youngest son tested negative and we got him out of here and back to school the next day. He is doing well back with his friends. My son also tested negative. He is staying at his mom's until the coast is clear. Once he gets back we both plan to make up for lost time. We really have no idea how we got this. We work from home and have been as careful as you'd expect with a cancer patient in the house. I'm not a fan of the "panic porn" in our media scaring the crap out of people. This is a nasty virus that is highly contagious. But it is just a virus, not Armageddon. I'm also not a fan of the "I'm not wearing a mask" crowd. This ain't the flu and there are a lot of vulnerable people who would benefit from simple civic mindedess. Keep calm Wash your hands Wear a mask when you can't keep your distance

Thanks for the update shamwow. Glad you're basically doing well. You are right: this is not just the flu. Until there is a vaccine, life as we know it will not return. That said, I would actually kill for college sports without fans right now! I agree that folks should wear a mask. It's not a big deal. Do it for other people you love who might be vulnerable even if you don't know it. Do it for yourself. But do it. ❤️ To you and ballofconfusion et al.

shamwow So, so, so with you. There is so little airing of your sensible middle ground. I thought I was just floating around on my own out here. Even once this thing starts to die down, we need to remember that health professionals have been running themselves ragged for months now. They need that breather more than the rest of us need to go dancing. I'm very worried about those people's sanity. Think about your hardest day at work. Now think about having that day ninety times in a row. And if you quit, people die. Holy crap, what a life they have right now.
