Interesting article Brother greatcoastal . Seems to me that the more you know about a contentious subject (say divorce) the less frightening and intimidating it is. So, if someone close to you gets divorced, and you know them to be a good person, it will probably give you cause to rethink your attitude somewhat, and maybe not be as "judgey" as you otherwise might be. And if you are in a dud marriage yourself as someone close to you divorces it may give you cause to think "If I really had to, I could do that" and you might be prepared to look into how a divorce might theoretically shake out in your jurisdiction. Possibly, if you are considering divorce, then you might be looking to other divorcing / divorced people to be in your support group. You are probably not going to seek support / advice from happily married persons.
