Don't know how many Stephen King fans are in here, but I am about to explode from anticipation for this movie! One of my favorite forms of therapy: escaping reality for a couple hours in a darkened room, shoving popcorn in my mouth and losing myself in an alternate world.

When I saw IT, I was thinking computers and networking, so I clicked on the thread..
Stephen King is too far fetched for me.
I did watch Christine movie based on the horror novel written by Stephen King, published in 1983. It tells the story of a 1958 Plymouth Fury apparently possessed by supernatural forces.
Maybe after working on cars for most of my life, the movie seemed not remotely plausible.
I don't rely on "luck" or any other similar imaginary entities or traits. I am not totally a realists and I like some science fiction, especially if the concepts are somewhat of a theoretical possibility.
I hope you do get to read the latest King novel or see the movie version soon.

I have a collection of all his hardcovers, mostly first editions. I've been trying to collect them all over again--the British, Spanish and German covers. His older stuff (Christine era) is definitely his best work, in my opinion. Christine was okay. I found it hard to be scared of a car. I want teeth and claws in my stories.

I do not get King. It seems a pointless film. I have no desire to watch the sequel. Now Joker!!!!! I cannot wait

How about "The Blob"? The Steve McQueen original is the best version I think. Or any of the "Alien" films.

In fact, I have the movie poster framed on my wall. As for the Alien films, I thought Alien 3 and Resurrection were okay, but I didn't go crazy for them. I like sci-fi films, but I don't find them scary (with the exception of Event Horizon!), and the first two Alien films frustrated me because I just couldn't see anything.

Do you have any of the Bachman books when he was still writing under a pen name? I read a ton of his books as a kid, scared myself senseless reading It before bed every night as a teen. Though at this point, I think his Gunslinger series is his best work.

Saw IT Chapter 2 tonight. I was with 10 friends, and I was the only one who really liked it. A couple in the group were very disappointed, most felt it was okay and they liked the first chapter better. I'm also excited for the Doctor Sleep movie (follow up to the Shining) to be released later this year.

I'm also excited for the Doctor Sleep movie (follow up to the Shining) to be released later this year. I wasn't a huge fan of Doctor Sleep, but I will probably be there opening weekend. I love the original Shining adaption, though it differs greatly from the novel, and King himself is on record stating how much he despised Kubrick's version. In my opinion, The Shining is one of the scariest films ever made.
