Yes, and no Brother itme . I was in a support group called GamAnon, a group supporting spouses / families where there was a gambling issue present. It was eerily similar to this ILIASM group Newbies would join, looking for the magic bullet solution to get their family member to change and quit gambling - just as ILIASM newbies arrive here looking for the magic bullet solution to get their spouse to quit refusing. The underlying problem - that we do not have the power to change other peoples behaviour - is common to both. You, me, anyone, can only ultimately choose whether we are going to stay in the destructive relationship or not .... and there's no "right" answer to that highly challenging question. Any way, having joined GamAnon in about 2005, I learned an absolute heap over the years, and in some small way I may have contributed a bit to that group as well over my membership there. I still attend the group a few times a year when I am in the city. FWIW, I am a fan of peer support groups, I think they are usually terrific resources from which much can be learned. Glad you are getting some value out of your "Guys Meet Up" group.

I would go to No more Mr. Nice Guy, "meet-up group based on the book by Robert Glover. H. No "NMMNG" groups around my area.
My "Meet-Up" attendance amounted to sustainable life styles topics, which are good if you care about the planet.

Im a big fan of baza and his contributions to this group. I will say, that when I first joined the group, I wasnt ready to hear your message. But looking back now, it makes perfect sense. Glad you are getting some value out of your "Guys Meet Up" group. I view baza as a wise and gentle soul, sharing hard but necessary truths, shedding light to allow others to find their way. I always get a bit of a rush if he mentions my name. Happy that I made it onto his radar. So many of the older members northstarmom, @shynjdude DryCreek choosinghappy elkclan2 bballgirl to name just a few, were so helpful during my journey. At some point soon, I’ll post a full update (cliff notes version) of everything that has happened. But the end is near, light at the end of the tunnel... my escape is almost complete! And life is fucking awesome. I still have moments where I’m sad - feeling the loss of the naive dreams of my younger self. But I have no doubts. Life is only getting better.
