Just seeing if I'll get banned. Not banned. However, we have just deducted $1000 from your checking account, and sent it to his campaign.

Is Trump in a sexless marriage too? His wife can only be thankful if that's the case.

Going into the election, I told myself that the one good thing was that there was no chance it would result in a SM. The one sure thing was that no matter who got elected, we were all gonna get screwed!

The aussie equivalent, back in the 1990's was one John Elliott. A wheeler dealer (with a net worth of minus zero as it turned out) and control of the Liberal Party here (similar in outlook to US Republicans) decided he'd like to be the head honcho (ie Prime Minister)
Small detail, that he was not a sitting member - which you have to be to get to be PM here - stood in the way.
Anyway, when push came to shove, his own party, the Liberals, wouldn't endorse him for a safe seat. So his charge for the top ran up a drain.
A couple of years later his financial house of cards fell arse over head, leaving his creditors and the taxation office lamenting.
But it was a near run thing at the time. But we never discovered what an unholy fuck up it would have produced if a highly leveraged wheeler dealer had got the top job.. Appears you US citizens are going to find out.

I understand about every third word. I'm going to need to google translate this.

Variously attributed to de Toqueville or de Maistre: "in a democracy the people will get the government they deserve". Going on the cabinet he's got himself, and what the radio says about the first actions in office, this is shaping up to be a right real cluster fuck. In fact, I frequently seem to turn the radio off these days because it makes me cringe too much. Pass the peanuts and open another beer .... and, my condolences to any thinking ethical person in the Excitable States of America (as my Canuck friend Glenn styles them). You have a rough ride coming, methinks. About 80% of his rethoric is straight out of the speech book of one Adolf H. Literally. I know, because I had to learn all about the latter in school. They made us learn, so we wouldn't fall for that rethoric again. And it still seems to draw the votes. Just as it did in '33. I just hope it doesn't go quite as badly this time.
