Today's question: What's the coolest thing you've ever won? Several years ago my daughter brought home a note from school with a horrible language mistake in it, made by her teacher. My daughter told the teacher about the mistake the next day. Teacher got mad and wrote some ridicolous comments on the note to explain why she was right. Teacher said "show that to your parents, maybe they'll learn something ". I sent that note with comments to a language advice site. They chose this note for their 'language mistake of the month ' item. And rewarded that with a gift voucher. Naturally I used that to buy a book for my daughter.

Back in the says when TVs were huge boxes, I won a TV at a singles weekend in the Catskills.
Unfortunately, instead of shipping the TV to my place, I had to bring it back myself - in a car full of guys who came up together. As the TV was too large to fit in the trunk, my friends were forced to be squished with the TV in the backseat for the four hour drive.

Teachers who cannot admit their own mistakes don't deserve to be teachers. Good for you.

Today's question: What's the coolest thing you've ever won? Back in law school I won a DVD player. This is just before they started becoming popular and cost about $150. It was a contest sponsored by Lexis where to enter you needed to do a bunch of research tasks, and they were awarding one to each law school. I kind of suspect there may have been very few entrants from my school, and this may have given me an advantage.

Today's question: What's the coolest thing you've ever won? I have to go away to a large city for annual health check-ups because there are no doctors near me that specialize in my condition. When I was a kid, I just happened to be at the hospital on the day they were doing a drawing of prizes donated for kids there. Apparently not many city kids were interested in the prize of the day because only a handful entered and I ended up winning a full day chartered fishing trip on Lake Ontario for myself and up to 4 others. Luckiest day of my life to have my appointment fall on that particular day just a few hours before the drawing. It was a great trip too. Everyone who went with me caught something they could keep and they filleted everything for us at the end. Nice fat brown trout that tasted great.

This last Lottery where the prize reached into the billions - I decided to buy $20 worth of numbers. My first ever time to play. I lost my ticket. I’ll never know - lol.

Coolest thing I ever won?
That would be an airplane ride. Not a flight, a ride. A ride in a 4 seat single engine damn this is noisy plane. We made the reservations in the fall and they emphasised to dress warm. During the ride I understood why, the cabin heater was not working.

I won a set of 4 Coleman folding camping chairs at a campground we were staying at one summer. It was a boney knees contest! ( a natural talent!)

Question of the day:
Do you feel you have a specific purpose in this world?
Do you know what it is?

Question of the day: Do you feel you have a specific purpose in this world? Do you know what it is? No to the first one so the second is irrelevant to me.

I had a purpose when the kids came along and plans when I retired. The kid thing played out a little less than perfect, well not really. It just took a little longer than I had envisioned. After the kids were on their own, life changed more than I had planned.
My vision changed several times and is still changing. One counselor I was talking with a long time ago, wrote on the insurance diagnostic code "#####= difficulties due to some radical life circumstances. OK, so I didn't handle several big economic, medical, and relationship monkey wrenches.
Now, I take an approach that I need to do some things differently and adapt to even more changes.
I still wouldn't handle shy diving, that is too much outside my comfort zone but some other things that I wished for and never got only lead to dissatisfaction, so I quit striving for what I thought was or should have been good enough. Some things will never be good enough and accepting that I can't force "good enough" on someone else makes my life a bit easier to live.

Today's question:
What bad habit of yours would you like to magically disappear?

Today's question: What bad habit of yours would you like to magically disappear? My overwhelming urge to keep the peace which often means not speaking my mind. I avoid confrontation which often makes my problems worse.

Today's question: What bad habit of yours would you like to magically disappear? My overwhelming urge to keep the peace which often means not speaking my mind. I avoid confrontation which often makes my problems worse. I had that problem in a crippling way that affected my work as well. It turns out I had very low testosterone. (Didn't affect my desire to want to have sex, though!) If you haven't, you might want to be tested.
