My favorite memories of Halloween are actually of rummaging through the big box of dress up clothes and fabric scraps that my dad would pull out every year and putting together a costume. There was none of this ‘going to the store and buying whatever costume you want’ stuff. We had to make our costumes every year out of whatever we could find. Instilled a sense of pride and accomplishment as we filled up our pillowcases from house to house 😊

Question of the day: What is your favorite Halloween memory? My family doesn't celebrate, so I have none for myself, but interested in everyone else's! Shopping for (or more likely making) a costume big enough to fit over a snow suit! 😂

Handy said That's the Jewish holiday of Purim in a nutshell. Kids dress in costumes to deliver baskets of goodies to neighbors. A better lesson IMHO.

Hmmmm methinks you are misremembering some key parts of Purim that make it slightly less than ideal as a lesson for kids!! Ad d'lo yada and all! But yes, the reverse trick or treat thing is good.

Today's question:
What's the coolest thing you've ever won?

Today's question: What's the coolest thing you've ever won? I’ve never won anything that I can remember. If I did win something cool, I would think I could remember it. I had a friend in college who won a year’s supply of Dr Pepper- that was pretty cool!

Today's question: What's the coolest thing you've ever won? I hit the jackpot on a slot machine in Las Vegas. Totally a random while-I-was-walking-by thing. The punch line... I was underage. I stepped away “to get my ID” and they never saw me again.

Oh- but you were underage- never mind!

I stepped away “to get my ID” and they never saw me again. In my entire life, I've played two nickels in a slot machine, and won both times! I put in one nickel, pulled the handle, and won a handful of nickels. I put in a second nickel, and won a few more nickels. Then, seeing that happen, my friend's girlfriend went crazy, scooped all my nickels out of the tray, and played all the nickels in another slot machine, losing them all. End of story. :-(

At a home improvement seminar, I won a plain steel exterior door. I didn't need the door because my garage already had 2 steel walk doors. I just left the door at the home improvement place.
I never put money in a gambling machine and I never bought a lottery ticket. Never put money in a sports pool at work. I do put money in a weight loss group every week (35cents). The person that lost the most weight for the week gets the quarters that were put in the jar that week. The person that lost the most weight for the month gets the 4 weeks worth of dimes. Last evening, I lost the most weight for the week and the most weight for the month. The kitty was all the way up to $6.00 and I got all of it.
I bought some food at McDonald's and won a small McFlurry. It sort of paid for the gas I used taking my grand daughter to work at McDonald's.

I won a Boy Scout knife for selling the most tickets to the annually Scout Fair. I was 8 at the time and I sold over 700 tickets over a 2 month time. I also got an engraved trophy cup, which I still have to this day amazingly.
My dad took the knife and said he would hold on to it until I was older. I never saw the knife again and totally forgot about it. Of course I bought another scout knife later when I was older in the Boy Scouts.
About 20 years ago I got a surprise package in the mail from my dad. It was that knife I had won. It was dull and he had used it over the years obviously. I guess he figured at the age of 38 I was ready to have the knife.

When I was a little girl my best friend and I were riding in the back of my dads pickup to go trick or treating and when we flew down a steep hill the wig I was wearing suddenly flew off my head and my friend and I just laughed and laughed until we were just exhausted. It’s such a good memory and we still talk about it to this day.
