Hi, all. Just popping in after an admittedly LONG absence.
I guess I'm posting on this board as this post is not about my relationship with my wife... but my relationship with... the forum. I have missed all my friends here very much. But I had to take a break from the the level I had been participating. I was obsessing over the forum (and everyone else's troubles) very much. Overthinking WAAAAAAY too much in my own life. And the HOURS a day I would spend here was definitely impacting my work.
Cold turkey for -- what has it been -- almost four months? I wouldn't have predicted that. I want to state -- unequivocally -- that nobody here did or said anything that caused that hiatus. Nor was anything "going terribly" in my life. A special thanks to several folks who PMed me in that period to check in on me.
In that time, my renewed focus on work earned me new responsibilities to take the technical lead on a project at work. My family continues to have ups and downs -- but that is what parenting feels like. And my marriage: no change. I am getting out and doing more on my own. Music activities mostly, both attending summer concerts and attending a amateur musician meetups.
So... that's what's up with me. I haven't had any chance to catch up on the threads yet; maybe next week (after this week's big customer demo).
Be well!

Thanks for the update Brother Dan . I missed you. Understand completely if your contributions are a bit sparse. There's more to life than ILIASM.

Well done looking after yourself. Sometimes the ruts we fall into need little shakes to reposition everything. Sonetimes big shakes. Good for you for shaking things up!

Independently pursuing your own interests sounds like a great idea!

I have been largely off the forum myself for a couple of months as well due to breaking a wrist and spraining the other hand, making it very tough to do texting. I think maybe I was getting overly involved with the forum as well, because I too missed everyone. anyway, don't be a stranger. maybe we can all moderate our forum time?
