I have a friend who's 67 year old husband has pretty advanced stages of Alzheimer's. Man, I feel for her.
I say it often, but I'd rather die young than end up with diseases or ailments that leave me needing others to tend to my basic needs.

Some pretty eye opening stuff going on in the nursing homes.
"She laced her keynote with eye-opening composite cases from two decades spent on the front lines as a gerontology nurse working with dementia patients. There was the man who adorned his walls with framed Playboy centrefolds; nurses protested and refused to go into his room. Another woman would lift her skirt over her shoulders and proposition male residents, or “sailors” as she called them. And there was the husband who visited his wife every day from lunch till 7 p.m.; the housekeeper was shocked to walk in on him one day with his head between his wife’s legs.
They were visceral vignettes meant to illustrate the very real sexuality of older adults, as well as our profound unease around it"

The important lesson here: If you don’t get out of your SM you can look forward to your kids and a nurse telling you who you can or can’t fuck...

The part that threw me for a loop is the lady in the nursing home with dementia fucking another resident with dementia but she is still married to her husband who has to hear about his wife and probably still foot the bill for the home.

And let me tell you... memory care... dude’s paying at least $6k/mo. That’s some bad karma coming back on him, for sure! He musta been a refuser.

Yes, memory care is $6K plus a month. About the wife F'ing another guy with dementia, well it sounds unfair but I visit a friend in one of those places and if he was having a good time with another resident and the facility was OK with it, I would be too. The woman does Not have the capacity to remember she was married. At that stage only the reptilian part of the brain still works and reptiles know enough to still have sexual thoughts. Why would I be OK? Because some of those people don't have much to do and about half of them sit in chairs about half asleep for hours on end. I talk with my friend but he doesn't have enough good brain cells to respond in an understandable way. He thinks he is in jail for 8 years because was accused of hitting someone. He keeps telling me he never hit anyone. He has been there for about a year. He also tells everyone no one visits him but I know he has visitors almost every day. Another guy rubs his nether region quite a bit and needs frequent re-direction. Then there the other people doing strange things. These people can't even remember the simple code to unlock the exit door. Sitting in a chair half asleep or staring out a window OR making out, which would you choose?
For the spouse that still has it together, maybe they are the ones that need a lover!

Actually my W has no problems with dementia but I did go through a phase where I hoped she was cheating on me because that would mean at least one of us we having a sexual relationship. Of course, the reality seems to be that she doesn't want a sexual relationship anyway.
