"I do not need thousands of pictures of my arm around another, proving I have loved and been loved; I do not need masses to step up and say I will be missed to prove I belong; I do not need to leave behind a child, memorial or statue to prove I have lived. All I must do is take a walk in the woods to experience the quiet truth that Universe knows I Am Love, I Belong, I Live – and that is enough." I wrote the above in 2011. Even though I am very much in love right now, I still mean it.... in a time when Facebook, social networking, seems to "prove" our relevance (how many "likes" can I get?), I think it's important to step back often and remember what it is like to just "be" (and preferably alone from time to time)... those are often the moments of the most profound peace and insight. I am thankful for solitary camping moments for teaching me I'm ok...whether I'm alone or with someone. I still seek those moments out now.

This comes up on my memories every year because I posted it 3 years ago. I'm glad for the reminder every year.

WindSister, I would “like” this, but that’d seem counter to the principle of the post... ;-)
