I’m guessing that if I were an RCer I would know what that stood for? 😜

Haha! Yours are so much funnier than the actual meaning I am tempted to not tell you! Haha! I am so entertained!
It actually stands for "reevaluation counseling" It is a theory on counseling, on life, on being a human. The basic, very oversimplified theory, is that humans are emotional creatures that get taught from an early age not to let our emotions out. Men get this even worse than women. The idea is that we then come up with unhealthy channels for those emotions- such as suppressing them, lashing out in anger due to them, etc. We cannot tease out our genuine reactions to things from our old hurts because we are a jumbled mess. RC practice involves 2 people exchanging "sessions" where they can emote (cry, scream, laugh, tantrum, whatever) safely without judgment with attention from another person. The idea is that you do not need a therapist because you have the wisdom in you if you just had the freedom to get to it.
There is more to it than that but that is the basics. I have been in it for awhile now. It is what helped me actually be able to admit to another human being that I am in a sexless marriage. It has helped me own my own part in this- why in the world did I marry this person, how have I stayed in an SM for so long, etc.
If there were any RCers here it would be great to exchange sessions but I am out of luck.

It sounds akin to what the adult children of Alcoholics group works with.
I thought you were referring to being a Remote Control enthusiast- they even have competitions of planes & cars. Although I’ve also heard of a “party game” involving a remote control vibrator.
I’m interested in this explanation though- and some/much of it sounds like good sense. I’ll have to read up on it. (In a couple weeks - after classes are finished)

Be careful with RC. I know some people involved. One even flies to Israel to facilitate RC experiences there. He seems like a nice, balanced guy.
Two others whom I know. say that they were involved for a while but then it became like a cult. One said she moved from europe to the US to escape involvement.
I don’t have an opinion as I have no personal involvement with it. Just passing along what I’ve heard.

This bit - "to admit to another human being that I am (in a sexless marriage)" has similarities to 12 step groups. Many of them, such as AA, have a stage where participants attest "to admit to another person that I am are powerless over alcohol" (or gambling, or drugs etc) as a key part of taking responsibility. For me, 12 step stuff I find very valuable. This RC stuff, I know nothing about, so I don't have an opinion on it....other than, it appears you are involved in it Sister workingonit , and you are no fool.

Ha ha RC Cola! I love that stuff. Haven't had it in ages. I grew up in the South. Used to drink that and SunDrop - another regional soft drink. I'd crawl over broken glass for a SunDrop and a chicken biscuit.

northstarmom I have been aware of RC for 20 years and always wary of it. I have been in it now for 2 years. I am well aware of the cult like aspects and I am not at risk of being sucked into them. Thanks, though, for the concern. Like anything, you have to just take what works, leave the rest and keep your eyes wide open.
