One beautiful, (semi) obedient 80 lb male dog. Being rehomed because dog enjoys (1) faking that he needs to go out one last time after all have gone to bed [so he can steal his brother's unfiniahed chew bone on the way back inside and take it up to bed with him], followed by (2) a 60 minute snorting tongue bath of his weiner at bed time and finally (3) a 2 am wake-up call to run downstairs (this is just as you've finally entered your deepest, most satisfying sleep) and through the house and out the back door where he finally does the business he should have done when he was plotting his ruse to get his brother's chew bone.
Not serious of course, I love him and consider him family, but some days even a canine roommate can be deeply annoying. Clearly this is something he needs his training to be reinforced about, sleep time is inviolable, take care of all that before the bedroom door is closed and locked for the night.

You will have to crate him for a few weeks. It seems cruel but that's the kindest thing. It's what he will understand. Then give him treats when he does his business outside.

My dog used to get up in the middle of the night to wake everyone up.
We now close all the downstairs blinds so she can't get riled up with deer or any imaginary intruders in the yard. And IF she does wake me up, she is forced to come upstairs and sleep with us. She doesn't like that.
Now, on the rare occasion that she does bark at night, when I get down there, she drops her head, ears, and tail, and demurely lumbers upstairs on her own and gets in bed.

My dogs would not have dared to come into the house. Toenails on the doorstep, and not a centimeter further. None of that funny business ;-)
One time I had to take one of them to the vet. Had to pick it up and carry it across the doorstep, it would not cross it by itself.

I have a cat who does not hesitate to wake me up when he wants something. Whether I'm in bed, or whether I've fallen asleep on the couch.
He starts out by lightly tapping me with his paw. He continues by meowing (for him, that's rare; he's the quietest cat I've ever had.) If I fail to respond, he will bite my feet, scratch the couch, or play with my phone charger cord.
He knows how to get my attention.

I'll take him @helentishappy!! But, my four k9 kids would have to approve. Sounds like he's got it made in the shade. Love a good furbaby story.

I love him and consider him family Eyebrows knitted, and shaking fist after $2000 worth of new big dog knee. But when we opened up the recovery small penned yard area, she walked out and then started to run, I cried like a little baby.

But when we opened up the recovery small penned yard area, she walked out and then started to run, I cried like a little baby. My daughter dog #1 had two knew surgeries about eight years ago, costing almost $6500. Thankfully, we had pet insurance and specialists who allowed for payment plans. But, that first time she went back to the dog park and ran with her friends, I will never forget. We filmed her and sent the video to her orthopedic team along with a holiday thank you card.
