This video made me smile. I had shared it on Facebook and yup, someone was aghast that this little girl was allowed to ride - how dangerous!!! The comments on the posting from the Choppertown FB page are similiar but even more judge-y.
Kids are so coddled today. This girl was obviously taught well by the man-figure (her dad?). I love how she even does the wave and bike-walk so expertly. Also, she is not on a "main road," she is in a parking lot. Apparently during a less-busy time, too. She's wearing all the gear (I am actually jealous of her gear..lol). Don't see a problem! I wish my dad had taught me from such a young age, but all that was reserved for my brother, because, well, he's a "boy."
Anyway, had to share. A little diversion, perhaps. This rider chick is too cute!!

My take on this is "praise you her parents".
We need to quit babying our kids. They have an amazing ability to learn quickly. I have 4 daughters and they have all been on a roof nailing shingles. They learned that getting dirty can be fun and that taking risks can lead to wonderful experiences.

I would bet good money that this chick - by virtue of her "seat of her pants" acquisition of riding skills (probably paid for by a bit of gravel rash and mebbe a broken bone here or there) - will be a great and aware automobile driver when the time comes.
