I'm sure all the women here agree that a good wood is the best way to make it a good Friday.

That spruce has an interesting grain pattern but it just does not want to lay flat.

That spruce has an interesting grain pattern but it just does not want to lay flat. My H has already noticed that.... we picked the best we could from the big box home improvement store. Our choices here are not a lot. I didn't know it was spruce, thought it was pine. You are the wood expert, we should have consulted with you first!

WindSister That looks like the floor boards on my attic conversion, where I am now staying to get some space from H. Pulled up all the old carpet and padding myself (yeah, I'm bragging) and the house is old so no plywood underneath, just 2'x6's. Have fun with your project, and wear gloves! Don't get a splinter.

Well, with all the painting I ended up with what I can only describe as a "carpal tunnel type injury" in my right wrist (clutch/brake hand!!). It's like, wth?? When did I get so old I can get an injury from "too much painting? " SIGH. I was trying to power through because I really wanted to do my part in the basement, but my H has told me to let my wrist rest, he is finishing the wood trim. Yup, as soon as I stopped, all better. Grrrrr..... It's my first time experiencing that kind of pain/limited motion of a body part so it sticks out in my mind. I am starting yoga and stretching again to try to get to where I can bend my right hand back as far as I used to. It was so weird not being able to pick of a glass or put a pony tail in my hair. :/ In this all, again, he amazes me and makes me feel loved. He never made me feel bad about not helping anymore, he genuinely wants me better and he googled symptoms, etc. He knew I felt bad not helping. Then, his best friend skyped him last night and asked how the basement was coming along. My H showed him the woodwork I did and how great a job I did and how he couldn't build it all without me. Maybe it's weird I notice that, but, I don't know. The man is always lifting me up and when a couple does that for one another, good things flow from it. And I am sorry for sharing this..... it just... genuinely still amazes me.

Oh, lord. I have so much wrist pain from sanding and painting our huge deck I can't even tell you. The worst was painting the underside in a semi backbend on a ladder, on muddy rocks (it's a two story deck)
Not to steal your thunder. But it's not that youre old.,wood and house stuff is hard work. You might try wrist braces next time, or a spray gun?

The project is complete now, our basement is turning into a cozy cabin-like retreat. Take care of yourself!

I'm sorry, how was there only ONE sexual innuendo in this whole thread?? Oh, it's just a little conversation about wood and how each is beautifully unique and one might need wrist protection while handling sometimes, especially if bending backwards and/or upside down, you know getting in those compromising positions with a big piece. There's nothing sexual here.

I can't hire a contractor to save my life (husband is not into construction so much, sigh) and I'll pay you to come help me! I need a couple of walls removed, a staircase straightened out and basically rebuilt, and my kitchen redone. I can help, but I need an expert to lead me. I'm sure you have plenty of time to come to Georgia and help me out, right? Wink Wink. Obviously, I'll pay! Hey, jim44444 how about you? Want a paid contractor gig removing walls? You're really handy too, right? I'm sort of kidding, but not really. It is so hard to find a contractor in ATL.

I was repairing a staircase over the weekend and I have the battle scars to prove it. I earned 5 stiches.
