Does anyone watch pageants anymore?? I know I don't. But,I saw a Facebook post of Lynda Carter, Miss USA 1972 in my Facebook newsfeed from the page History in Pictures and my first thought was, "hmm... back when women were allowed to have boobs!!" So then I was curious who Miss USA 2017 was. It's Kara McCullough from DC. Yup "society's" definition of beauty has changed. She is beautiful. Obviously. It's just interesting the difference. I was born to be an adult in the wrong damn decade. lol Fyi... I truly am body positive, not into body shaming. You will never hear "real women have (insert trait)" from me (or real men). Tall, short, skinny, fat, roly, muscular, big boobs, little boobs...it's all real. It can all be beautiful, just depends who's wearing the "suit," whatever shape or size. But society sure has standards it tries to sell. I always find that interesting. I remember even in the 80s, boobs were cool...that was awesome for me, because I have always been substantial in that area. On the flip, women with little boobs felt that was a standard they could never live up to. Things change. When I was dating after my divorce, I heard more than once "boobs aren't my thing " from men. I thought, damn! It's all I got. Lol. (Jokingly, it's my sense of humor, don't get all serious on me and tell me to love myself, etc... I do and did, it was my way of bringing humor into rejection) Payback, I suppose. Ha..ha..Luckily, my husband is old fashioned... he likes mine. Anyway... just sharing an observation. Please, no body shaming on this thread. Keep it positive or scroll by.

Yeah, but can this "Kara McCullough" chick do a quick spin and magically change her outfit ? Or deflect bullets with her bracelets ? Fly an invisible plane ? Force the truth out of someone via her golden lariat ?
I am betting she can't do any of the above.
They had real skills back in the 70's.

Yep, fashion changes even in regard to body type. Today it is more inclined to the lean athletic type. Much better than the anorexic model but they are all good. I am waiting for the bald overweight old guy look to be in vogue.

I won't call them "real" men... I was tempted for a bit... muscle men are real, too. I will call them the unextaordinarily sexy. Hm... or something along those lines.... will need a word for it.

Wow, what a stark contrast. Our standards of beauty have changed so much in less than 50 years. It’s hard being a woman in today’s beauty culture. Expectations are so unrealistic. Glad you shared. I don’t catch pageants anymore.

It's funny because most guys I know, myself included, would prefer to have some curves rather than the stick thin "societal standard" of beauty. I'd prefer a woman's body to be soft and comforting rather than chiseled from marble.

No matter what society shoves down our throats I still think Lynda Carter is extremely sexy. This year’s winner is a beautiful woman too but I find that the curves and softness are what make a woman sexy. Just my opinion. I don’t find the need to strive for some unrealistic-for-me body type because that is what is in the magazines. I never have and never will be “thin” and I am okay with that. Thanks for posting, very interesting to see the difference!

And yes WindSister : The Full Monty over Magic Mike any day! (I actually didn’t even bother to see MM.) Two thumbs up.

However, I would like to test out the "chiseled from marble" body type at least once, for the sake of science.

Any man that has said "boobs aren't my thing" has never had a full rack to enjoy or is closet gay. To have her on top and cover my face with her breasts. 🤤
Just like if they say "ass isn't my thing", they have never had a curvy ass to grab hold of when doing it from behind. 😈

Okay, I will never have a body like them, but I admit, I gotta get off my ass. lol This winter has taken a TOLL on this body. Starting to wake up and take control of a few things so I can at least feel good. I could stand to pump a few reps at the gym.

Women with t and a may go in and out of style for beauty contests but they will always have their fans, I don’t see such lucky women having a hard time getting dates. I’m medium build but if I had a choice, I’d prefer more, not less t &a.

The bottom left hand pic of Linda Carter shows in the background a chick in blue (Miss Venezuala ??) Said chick in blue looks decidedly skinny and bony to me, and clearly that pic is contemporary to Linda Carter. Indeed the same photo.

First, I am not a fan of pageants. To rank one girl as prettier or more accomplished than another is hogwash. If I had a daughter, I don’t know if I would let her in a pageant. I know some girls who were in them, and they said they were positive experiences. But I would need a lot of convincing to let my daughter in one.
As to the two ladies pictured - don’t know the current Miss USA, but Lynda Carter is a dream. She could sing too.

baza...ha.... so you are saying this is some made up shit theory, then. Yeah.... I see it. lol obobfla... I agree. It's pointless and archaic and when I searched I was surprised to see this was still going on as I don't watch much TV. I am sorry for this pointless side conversation. I'll control myself from posting such things in the future, but I can't make concrete promises about it. Thanks for putting up with me!
