Wait...no ads with the weird looking psychics who do nothing but wait for someone to call them. Their phones were ringing off the hook. I'd prefer looking at clowns.
I didn't think it is possible to have a forum with no ads. Hopefully it can stay this way.

I can do without the pop-up links, featuring the shapely bent over athlete, or bride and the surprised photographer. I have no idea how this is being paid for.

With respect to ads, FreeForums/ProBoards seems to run this way: - First few weeks of a new forum are ad-free.
- After that, it looks like the cost to run the site ad-free is about $8/month, up to 50,000 page views.
- But it looks like if ANY member pays that $8, by clicking "Click here to remove banner ads from this forum" at the bottom of the page, then the site is ad-free for EVERYONE... for that next month.
If I have that correct... this is a novel funding scheme.
So my plan is: I'll plan to cover the costs for a few months, confirming that this is the case. After which, I will probably ask members to chip in somehow.
By the way: one member generously ALREADY DID chip in a month's worth already. (Thank you, binarybill!) |

Yes: selecting "let staff decide" is the right thing to do. Then from the admin console I'll "apply" those credits as needed. It looks like one batch of 50,000 page views will be plenty for a single month... at least for now! |

Let me make sure I know how to "spend" the two "donated" months correctly first. (After all, we are still in an ad-free "grace period" for a new board, anyways.)
Once I get this figured out, I'll turn to members seeking support to keep us ad-free.
