I'm on my second listen to this on on audio-books. It's really helping me to figure out why I tend to be walked on by everyone in my life. Eye opener and highly recommended to anyone, walked on or not. Warning: This one has a BIG Christian component, lots of scripture quoting. Normally not my thing, but the root message is grounded in the real world. Boundaries By: Dr. Henry Cloud, Dr. John Townsend

Dr Cloud is really good. Have you seen his Coke machine video? Speaks so well to the refused situation. Nice one - thanks for posing it

I liked the book Boundaries the first time I read it. However it seems more geared toward woman who are living in a relationship who are victims of domestic violence.
I found the book "Boundaries in Marriage" to be much more helpful.

I'm a Christian so that element did not trouble me. The points that the authors made took me time to learn to apply with my wife. It's not all that easy at times but boundaries are very important.

Glad you like and also, as greatcoastal mentioned above, the "Boundaries for Marriage" is excellent as well. I'm about 1/3 through that and got more out of it already than the first one. Thanks GC!

I liked the book Boundaries the first time I read it. However it seems more geared toward woman who are living in a relationship who are victims of domestic violence. I found the book "Boundaries in Marriage" to be much more helpful. I admit that I have not read the book yet but I looked it up. When I look at a book online, I usually read some of the negative reviews as well as the positive and I was very surprised to see that many of the negative reviews were specifically related to the book teaching views that contradict the Bible. Since it was written as a Christian book, that puzzles me. One reviewer even listed off several Bible verses that run contrary to the Boundaries books and proclaimed the whole series to be "false teaching" that should be banned in churches. I was wondering if anyone else had a comment on this.

Since it was written as a Christian book, that puzzles me. One reviewer even listed off several Bible verses that run contrary to the Boundaries books and proclaimed the whole series to be "false teaching" that should be banned in churches. I was wondering if anyone else had a comment on this. I've never had a book that was so applicable for me and my situation!! I highlighted about 70% of it, and folded back page after page. (My second most applicable book has been "Saying Goodbye To Crazy".) Honestly....I loaned my book to someone who needed it and probably won't get it back, but that's okay. As far as false teaching and banned in churches.....I'd say, "decide for yourself, put on your big boy/girl pants and use the freedom you have that was paid for with a price". Friend- I say this with love and respect- take it up a notch. Don't get caught in what "churches" tell you. Decide for yourself, use your God given gifts show faith that you "with guidance" can come to your own conclusions, and do your own research. "ONE" reviewer listed bible verses. That reminds me of when the pharisees questioned Jesus about the woman who was about to be stoned for adultery, and how he answered their trickery. So, so many teachable moments in that story!! One of my favorite questions is "where was the man? Why wasn't he held accountable?" Personally, I don't like "a verse". It's to easy to take it out of context , manipulate and spin it, without grasping the truth in the whole picture. But that's me. Again, you can decide how aplicable it can be for your own situation. Personally that's part of the problem that has me here, not deciding for myself and not standing up for what is right and my best interest.
