Maybe there is something to astrology, after all. Mercury is retrograde, and that means delays.
It turns out I don't start at the new job tomorrow after all - they haven't finished my security clearance yet. They have done everything else - done my benefits paperwork, even set up email and an electronic time sheet for me.
I am actually *ready* to stop having time off and go back to work - so I hope this gets resolved soon. I feel weird not going to work.

Hang in there soon you will start and you'll be wanting it to be Friday on Tuesday.
You know even the calendar says WTF after Tuesday!

Talk about proactive... starting the booking process before you've had a chance to be naughty! ;-) Background checks are annoying. I'm still the same guy, with the same history that I had the last time somebody checked... Why am I doing this again? It's to the point now that you literally can't accompany your own child on a school field trip unless the school district has scrubbed your background. But at least the annoyance means things are moving forward for you! |

I've had my fingerprints taken several times over the years. I had better be sure to wear gloves if I ever decide to begin a life of crime, ha ha.

Mercury retrogrades are good to pause, and regroup, like you're doing, @smartkat, If things are moving slowly, it just gives us more time to read any fine print. Also, allow more time for travel delays and communication snafus.
The good news is that it will end in May 22nd. The bad news is that it's May 7th, so we'll be dealing with it for a couple more weeks.
