I am reading (or listening - thank you audible!) a book called Sex at Dawn by Christopher Ryan PhD., and his wife Cacilda Jetha. I have to tell you, this book about pre-historic relationships of hunter/gatherers is fascinating! It validates many of my thoughts about sex and values - identifying my desires back to how we are designed, instead of what our society has taught how we "should" be.
If you are so inclined, I'd love to discuss. They state sex is social, and not done only as a means of reproduction, but as a means of building community.
I'm just amazed and have felt so validated in everything I am hearing. The social aspect surprised me. I thought sex was meant for reproduction, but based on the numbers, it's truly healthy. I believe more orgasms, happier people, therefore peace. They studied, or referenced studies that validate this thought as well. Make love, not war!
Anyway. Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Sex was never about reproduction to me. I was married ten years before we had kids. Being in a SM its a miracle we had 2 kids but I went the infertility route and got that job done too. He was not even in the room when the children were conceived. So supportive! Sex was about once a month. I was happy enough, naive, and believed his excuses because I was in love. Sex was always about pleasure, bonding and connection for me and still is. It's also about satisfying a biological need. Certain times of the month I'm just insatiable for days. I could see where people in prehistoric as well as primitive modern cultures have more sex compared to more advanced societies. Anthropology is such a fascinating topic to me. In a sense by modern times I try to live a simple life as much as possible and enjoy things that make me happy.
