Me too. I need to interact with people.

So I retired when I was 58 - my knees weren't up to my job any more. It hasn't really made much of a difference to my domestic situation. I had my job pretty well sussed out before I stopped, and was working maybe a 15 hour week. If it got busy, like building fences or such, my wife would be out there alongside me. If it wasn't we'd both be at home, more or less.
It's not been a problem. She's got her interests, so she spends a lot of time in the shearing shed, at her looms, or in the loft in the barn, making felt or sewing or making dolls or at her knitting machines.
I am in charge of the kitchen which I enjoy trememdously. I also have my computer, my computer workshop, my wood workshop, and my cameras. In fact, I have to make sure we spend an hour or so together in the evening (apart from meals) to socialize and talk about our day.
No rattling around the house bouncing off each other like a couple of monopole magnets here. I'm enjoying myself. We spent the last couple of weeks honing the designs for our new house and workshop buildings, we've finally sold the farm and we'll be moving - as soon as we get the new place built.
And I am thinking if I am going to [wanting to] look for a third career, or what ... retirement need not be something to fear, I find.
The way I look at it: I am finally done with the 'grown up' stuff and now I can go back to playing whenever I feel like it.

My husband loves talking retirement and that scares me big time...All that comes to mind is ...does he really believe I can live this sexless hell for another 20-30 years ? Hell no, I can't even imagine how I will make 5 more !

I retired in July 2015, I recommend it to everyone if you have other interest beside your job. I find things to keep myself busy, bicycling, house improvements, meeting with friends. Just about anything to get me out and moving. This could be a great time to do things with the W but why aggravate myself?
