I LOVE shopping for and wearing make-up, heels, and all things one would typically consider "girly". It's never been my intention to do this for a guy - or girls - I just do it cuz I like it.
One day heels, makeup - everything - and the next day overalls and braids - what-have-you. Kind of whatever floats my boat on any given day.
@thecelt I'm sorry these doses of your wife's "feminity" are so bothersome for you. I get it. Admittedly, when I was still in the FOG a bit with my H, I would get annoyed looking at him sometimes - thinking "what a waste" - I was literally glad when I was officially not attracted to him anymore.
Life is easier a bit because of this as I make my way closer to the exit.

My W. is one of those who rarely dresses up very feminine, hardly ever wears makeup, and heels hurt her feet. The bathing suit went away a decade ago. She also works mostly with men. I do recall the last time she wore a dress, 18 yrs. ago, so it must mean something to me? I meet and see plenty of woman my age wearing very sexy clothing, but not my W. There are only two or three photo's of her around the house. Wedding and glamour shots.
So dressing up, was more of a "requirement", wedding, work related, or church.
Convincing her of her attractiveness, when completely naked was a loosing battle. I believe her low feminine self esteem was extremely strong, long before we met. She took on a stance of "I am fine the way I am", and make up, feminine/sexy clothing, or behavior, aren't necessary.
Early red flags?

I'm a girly girl myself. I have trouble going out without eyeliner and mascara (although I will do it sometimes, if I'm depressed, feeling lazy, or going to the beach. Makeup at the beach is silly because it will just get messed up anyway.)
I like looking as good as I can look, even if nobody is going to see me. And there are days when I look better than usual, and then I feel bummed out if nobody sees. Like that expression, "This day was a total waste of makeup!"

Sociologically, women and men, like all other primates, are hardwired to engage in establishing dominance hiearchies - games that establish status. Women's dominance hierarchies tend to have a lot more to do with physical appearance than men's, which are more focused on performance and access to resources.
Even in strictly gender-segregated Islamic societies in which women are covered head to toe in hijabs in mixed company, women tend to compete with each other in this arena when in same-sex company.
So, is it really that confusing? Consider what you know for sure. You are clear that regardless of her proclivity for taking care of her presentation, it is important to her to avoid sexual contact with you. It's not just that it's not important to her - but rather that it is important to avoid it. It trumps her own libido and it trumps whatever collateral relationship consequences are presented.
It's reasonable to conclude that she doesn't desire sexual expression with you. That's pretty clear, isn't it? I mean, that's your premise, based on evidence.
So, then it goes to what you think about that and what it means.

I like to look nice for me. Full stop.
I also like to look nice for whoever I'm wanting to impress.
Nice can be the dressed up look or the dressed down look. Depends what I'm up to.
I did make an exception yesterday morning however... 5.30am, whirlwinding round the kitchen doing dishes and sorting lunchboxes..... bed hair, dressing gown... you get the picture!
Then, shitting hell, I hear the bin men.
My bins are always rammed by bin day... And if I miss them I have to wait another 2 weeks. That's catastrophic for me!
So I had to go out in my dressing gown.. nothing underneath...and heels were the closest shoes I could find.
As it's impossible to run in a dressing gown and heels pulling a wheely bin!
So I owned it. I live on a main road that leads to the motorway opposite a busy shop. It's also a popular runners route.
There I was sauntering along in the rain like that, joggers saying hi, truckers driving past ha ha ha
I put my biggest smile on and the bin men waited. Good lads!

Ha ha cheeky shamwow . Maybe if they didn't smell of rotting cabbage it would be worth it! Rotting cabbage is a turn-off for you? Damn...guess I have to cross you off the list. Well I guess when I get out of my marriage I only have 3.49999999 billion women left to meet.
