You're preaching to the converted! I know! Just using this "Resources" board to archive "all the evidence in our favor"... (just in case LOGIC might help sway our mates at some point...)

"The endorphins released during sex can help us enter natural states, like euphoria, leading us to feel less stressed. The oxytocin released during orgasm also promotes sleep."
Just thinking about sex also releases endorphins and oxytocin, without actually having sex or orgasm. I get a few good hours of sleep at night.

(Hey, for some of us in SMs, that's the main chance a receiving these benefits...) And: are the benefits mentioned basically the same for men and women? I assume so... but you never know.

Did a quick search and self-stimulation seems also beneficial as long as it isn't painful. If you can't sleep at night, some stimulation to raise levels of endorphins and oxytocin may help. " Endorphins are endogenous opioid neuropeptides in humans and other animals. They are produced by the central nervous system and the pituitary gland....The principal function of endorphins is to inhibit the transmission of pain signals; they may also produce a feeling of euphoria very similar to that produced by other opioids....Endorphins are naturally produced in response to pain, but their production can also be triggered by various human activities. Vigorous aerobic exercise can stimulate the release of endorphins in the bloodstream, leading to an effect known as a "runner's high". Laughter may also stimulate endorphin production; a 2011 study showed that attendees at a comedy club showed increased resistance to pain." -wiki Oxytocin " Sexual activity: The relationship between oxytocin and human sexual response is unclear. At least two uncontrolled studies have found increases in plasma oxytocin at orgasm – in both men and women. Plasma oxytocin levels are notably increased around the time of self-stimulated orgasm and are still higher than baseline when measured five minutes after self arousal.... In a study measuring oxytocin serum levels in women before and after sexual stimulation, the author suggests it serves an important role in sexual arousal. This study found genital tract stimulation resulted in increased oxytocin immediately after orgasm. Another study reported increases of oxytocin during sexual arousal could be in response to nipple/areola, genital, and/or genital tract stimulation as confirmed in other mammals. Murphy et al. (1987), studying men, found oxytocin levels were raised throughout sexual arousal with no acute increase at orgasm. Sex differences: It has been shown that oxytocin differentially affects males and females. Females who are administered oxytocin are overall faster in responding to socially relevant stimuli than males who received oxytocin. Additionally, after the administration of oxytocin, females show increased amygdala activity in response to threatening scenes; however, males do not show increased amygdala activation. This phenomenon can be explained by looking at the role of gonadal hormones, specifically estrogen, which modulate the enhanced threat processing seen in females. It has also been shown that testosterone directly suppresses oxytocin in mice. This has been hypothesized to have evolutionary significance. With oxytocin suppressed, activities such as hunting and attacking invaders would be less mentally difficult as oxytocin is strongly associated with empathy." -wiki Oxytocin explains why wife screams when she sees a cockroach.

True story: I knew a woman on EP who weaned herself off stress & anxiety meds (and thus, also the ones she was taking for side-effects) by masturbating before sleep instead of popping pills.

I recently went out for a quick romp with an acquaintance. My blood sugar had been running high, but the morning after that romp, it returned to normal. Beats an insulin shot!
