I got lucky this week. I got a front row seat watching a friend be amazing. A friend of mine opened up to me about some things weighing on them. Things that they struggled with for a while. Things that may have crushed me.
I got to watch them overcome these issues and stand tall.
I am proud of them.
I am proud to be their friend.
While they will never read this, I felt the need to express it here where I am lucky to interact here with such wonderful people.
So just remember, our friends and families are watching. When we handle ourselves with dignity, class, and self respect, we inspire those around us as well.
I got lucky this week.
I realized how lucky I really am to know such great people.

Yes, I bring a lot to the table. Like cupcakes. And pretzels. And vodka. (I do my best)

It is such a wonderful feeling to be there with someone when they have a positive, life-changing moment. Your friend is very lucky to have you in their life; having supportive and caring friends can mean so much.

I would have supported them even if they failed. But it does feel nice when someone says "great job,I'm proud of you." In this case it was me who is lucky enough to see it and say it. And mean it.

May your friend keep kicking ass and taking names.
Rock on, friend.

It makes you think - that's for sure. I am lucky enough to have friends who amaze me with the things they are capable of.

You lucky thing, indeed. Apart from one or two overseas email friends I have a terrible dearth of friends at the moment, and when there's yet another disconnect with my spouse for whatever reasons, that really comes to bite me in the arse. 6 months in a new town now, but despite going out and mingling, I haven't really made any genuine connections yet. Not surprised I got a bit down this last week.
Friends are SO important. In fact, ever since my mid teens I've gone around saying "home is where my friends are" --- and that, figuratively speaking, makes me a homeless person at the moment. Rats, as Charlie Brown would say.

Rats, as Charlie Brown would say. Or "Fucksocks" as I would say. I understand how one can feel isolated without that connection. Just do what you like - enjoy your hobbies and you WILL meet people with similar interests. Often my friends have supported me and helped me when my family has failed to. There is no great praise I can give to someone in my life then "Friend".
