BTW - I took the Nickname Generator and got "My Nickname is Houdini"! Which is much better than "Stupid Fucker" which is what I am normally called.

Andie, you crack me up! Hey, the one you chose or wanted too was the best I've seen! Hilarious! Cards are difficult for me throughout the year. I read all the loving ones, " you're my best friend", " you're the best ever". You get the picture. I always leave with a bit of a sadness. Because, I can't say that he is my best friend... breaks my heart. I usually settle with a funny one and get One from the dogs too. Lol That's EXACTLY what I do! It's the best I can do anymore. I also feel sadness that at one time I could enjoy buying those sentimental cards and now they make me sad and/or mad. I almost can't stand those cards anymore. Funny and animals are about it anymore.

Numbnuts and I exchanged gifts the night before last. This is typical because of our holiday travel plans. Here is the card from him. Wait, what? He wants me? Like hell he does. pic upload

More like a cruelty card than a Christmas card

@andie - wants you...to be happy with how things are. Wants you...as a roommate. Wants you...to accept & not wish to change, how things are. It wasn't insincere- it was just incomplete.

Lol Every year it's the same, I go early and often to buy her cards for every birthday and holiday, but find myself reading every card and thinking I can't possibly present this lie to her. For years, I would keep trying until I found one that didn't seem like too much of a lie, and usually walk out with a funny card. During the best of times, I would always buy two cards, one mushy and one funny. However, the last few years, I still try, but end up not getting her a card from me, and only getting one card for the kids to give to her. She gives me wonderful cards, but for me actions speak much louder than words. She would like for me to buy her a card from the dogs. In fact, she usually asks every year "What did the dogs get me?"

Yes, GG. You're totally correct. I'm used to when a man saying he wants me, it means he WANTS me. Here's my guess at it. I f you asked him two days later," what did the card say that you gave me?" He wouldn't have a clue! Its just a sad display of keeping up useless traditions that are ingrained into us from childhood. More commercialism that takes away from the true meaning of the holiday. For all you know it was the first one he picked up on the way out the door at the grocery store, from the bland comedy section. One more thing off his to do list. (never mind that it's some reindeer undressing as he shows off his snow boarding skills, but it's all about loving you? There's more truth in THAT than he may realize!) You writing to me on this sight means way more than some Christmas card sent once a year from a relative that i know nothing about. We stopped mailing, "Look at our wonderful family cards" years ago. Give some thought this year to the meaning of a new beginning, a gift for a new start!

She sounds hung up on materialism.
