I know it's lame to post this here (I'll remove it quickly!).......I tried to get a msg to admin......a very selfish one.......that because the site has a filter category of 'dating', ILIASM gets blocked for me at work......AND I GOTTA HAVE IT!!! It's not really a dating site, so if that 'category' designation can be axed, I wouldn't get the DT's at work.........this might effect others as well? Anyway, could someone who is 'in the know' pass this on if you know admin? Thank you, and again I will delete this in an hour or so You can see messages from Admin in the welcome board. under the guidelines thread for instance.

Yes, but he hasn't posted anything there in months.....I did leave this request a week or so ago over there, but no hits......so thought I would see if anyone knew admin directly (isn't it Dan?)

thebaffledking - fastest way to get his attention is probably to go to your other post and "report this post" (or something like that). I've tried flagging Admin in a post before, but that's apparently too subtle. But, having some knowledge of content filtering, I really doubt there's anything he can do. A lot of the filtering tools that companies use subscribe to services that do the categorizing, then the company decides how to handle each category of sites. I don't think there's much hope of influencing that category, if you could even figure out what service was doing it. The shortest path to success would be to approach your IT guys and ask them to 'whitelist' Iliasm.org on the basis of it being a 'support group'. But, I know that's not a conversation I'd be willing to have with my employer's official channels. Maybe if you know the guy who maintains the filtering device and he can quietly make the change for you. Otherwise, maybe use your phone as a wifi hotspot to get out for a 'fix' as-needed. Not that I do that on a regular basis or anything. <ahem>

Personally, I don't access this site at work with my work computer. I use either my iPad or my iPhone. Whatever site you visit on your work computer is known to your employer, and my employer doesn't need to know about what I post here.

I use my phone to access the site at work. Like obobfla I am reluctant to have my IT department know my business.

Hi All. DryCreek was on the right track. Best way to get my attention: "flag" a post, or PM me directly. I did recall setting the forum's "category" when I set it up on ProBoards. I just checked now; looks like I selected "Health" then. Seems good enough for now. As DC mentions, whatever "website filtering service" your company subscribes to is probably the source of the categorization that is causing you trouble. A VPN tunnel is probably your way to freedom. Not only does it circumvent the category filters, it gives your employer or any eavesdropper a hard time knowing what you are browsing. (It is STILL not impossible; just harder.) I use a service called "Private Internet Access" when I need to tunnel out of my corporate environment, or get around nanny filters at public WiFi hotspots (like Panera or the library). $40 a year has been worth it to me. A similar service (that I have no experience with) that might have a "free tier" is "Surf Easy".
