I know this is a crazy hard time for you, but you will get through it. If its okay, I'd like to offer a little bit of advice - listen to your lawyer and take their advice. If I hadn't spent so much energy trying to be "nice" and "understanding", I wouldn't be in the difficult position I'm in now. Choose your lawyer wisely and then let them do their job.
You're wise to note your peaceful feeling and hang on to it. You're already handling things beautifully. Hang in there and keep us updated.

You are a bright, shining STAR, that H was never able to dim. I admire your strength and courage and Mama Bear protective streak and cojones to be the advocate for your children.

Long story short: things came to a very ugly and scary head with my H yesterday morning [...] Reading between the lines, something I should have suggested earlier... * Police report * Restraining order (for you and kids) * Change the locks All on the advice of your attorney. Yes - whatever you do, be safe! And do what your lawyer tells you to do. Sending positive thoughts your way! |

Mariposa / you are absolutely right about your power. One of my besties is going through it right now. Let's just say, her H was mental. She went against her lawyer's advice and took him back in and they "worked" on it again. Not one month later, he was back to his old ways (secret) and it just came out a month after he started back. This is money and drug related btw.
She is now in a worse position because she took him back in to "work" on it, when she had him by the balls before.
Always get the best lawyer. Always trust your lawyer.

I don't know if you've been following my posts, but things just keep getting worse and worse with my divorce. Please learn from my example - get a good lawyer and file everything as quickly as you can. Don't delay, don't try to protect his feelings, don't try to preserve your relationship for the future. Take care of your financial safety - make it a priority. You can deal with the emotional issues later. I tried so hard to keep everything friendly, I made concession after concession to try to get things settled quickly - what I should have been doing is listening to my lawyer who was giving me sensible advice. You are fortunate to be in a position of power - don't be afraid to use it to make sure you and your children are taken care of. |
