So, I was just informed that this week is in fact Asexuality Awareness Week. For those of us who seriously wonder if our spouses might be asexual, it could be good to start a conversation about this.

In my jurisdiction, these "XXXXXXX week" (or day) have proliferated exponentially over the years, to the extent that the concept has lost all meaning. And, it would seem that anyone can declare any week / day whatever they like. - Asexual week ? Sure, why not. I promise I will do nothing to spoil the week for the asexuals, and most definitely will not be attending their festivities. - I would like to nominate a few themed days / weeks, of more interest to me however. "Get Hammered Day" "Bong Week" "Depraved Sexual Acts Week" "Attend the Drag Races Day"

I think there is a massive difference between being asexual and intimacy-averse. And I would wager the latter is a whole lot more common.

If you spend fine time studying grey-asexuality, which is considered a subset of asexuality you might find that quite common and, in fact, it defines, quite precisely, the attitudes of many of our refusers, including my own.

Just went to the asexualawarenessweek.com website, and they list the demographics as 51% Female, 9% Male, and 40% Non-Binary. Why am I not surprised?

I think it's less painful to think of our spouse as asexual because it means their rejection (though still painful) is not personal to us. However, when you have wondered if they are, along with are they gay, but years later you find them jerking off to naked women on their phone, you know it's personal to you.

Almost called in sick today, but after I had a good laugh I hoped in the car and went about my day, slightly hollow, but a little less sad. Almost send her a link to the website too, but don't feel like cooking myself dinner for the rest of the week.

Ha. I was security at a gig of theirs in the 90's Radiohead were supporting! I had the honourable position of being stood right in front of the fucking speakers. The vibrations were sickening tbh! As were some of the sweaty bodies we had to drag out of the crowd! Crazy days
